hi, I'm Wendy, on the brink of turning twenty (the thought is kind of scary that I've actually been alive for two decades) and I'm just about to start my sophomore year of college in NYC. I'm a psychology major and creative writing minor with a habit of doodling in the margins of my notes and during obscure hours of the night (I swear everyone does their best work when it's three in the morning!). My favorite book is Nabokov's Lolita and I collect stuffed pigs.

in high school I experimented a lot with anime style, then rewatched a bunch of classic Disney and fell in love again. I'm trying to branch out and try new styles and techniques this upcoming semester, and I'm currently doing the 100 themes art challenge.

When I sketch, I mainly work in pencil and ink. I use a non photo blue pencil on Bristol board and ink with Flair pen and shade with manga brush pens.

I love comments, critiques (especially on perspective) and tips, and I also love to make new friends. (: It's nice to meet everyone here, and I hope to learn a lot this upcoming year!

This is a pretty powerful start to your sketchbook. Great stuff, and your composition is also pretty sweet. :)

The only suggestion I MIGHT be able to come up with , is to practice with some full body gesture studies. Try referencing Loomis...

You can find some of the books and resources here.

Just click on the respective book to be taken to a gallery of hi-res scans of his books, amongst others. :)

hi guys! Thanks so much for stopping by; I really appreciate all the encouragement. (:

This is an unfinished painting of a photograph found here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/brokennightmare/3763266155/in/set-72157619937637169/) that my friend Laura took; she so graciously let me paint it. I'd love some critique and tips on it! (: It's done in acrylic. I told myself I'd finish it by the end of the summer and like the procrastinator I am it did not happen, although a good 3/4 of it is done!

I tweaked the contrast a bit in Photoshop because my camera tends to fade out the colors.

almost a whole semester and no decent art. typical. School eats life. ): but hey, I'm two classes away from finishing my psychology major, and I'm still a sophomore! 8D;

a series of three drawings in a little story. I'm thinking about doing more comics in this style; I like it a lot. They're all done first in 0.5 red mechanical pencil, then inked over with a 0.3 muji pen. The backgrounds are Faber Castell Pitt artist marker-pens and the snow done in white charcoal.
