Question for all you cats our there.
This deals with producing clean line work. I am looking for advise on creating artwork without the need of inking to produce clean work.
In my experiences I have found that roughly throwing in gestures and the such easy, and then erasing over them lightly with a kneadable eraser, then redrawing the figure. This is awesome when doing figures. Can get a little sloppy, but it’s the best situation I have come up with.
Here’s the ass part. When doing background, I use a grid. I try to press lightly and all that good stuff, but once the bg is completed, I have to do clean up, then I can tighten up the bg. The hard part is, using the kneadable eraser for this works, but takes forever. It also leaves a lot of areas where the grid may still show up. In little tiny spots at corners and the such. It’s quite tedious.
I know this is probably jumping in a lot of areas, but if anyone can just discuss how they produce CLEAN COMIC BOOK work, please share J
Also, don’t say anything about a light table. I’m sure this would cure a lot of the problems, but due to cash flow and all that, I don’t have the money nor the resources to make one. So please share ideas on how you create clean artwork without the need of the light table.
