What people mentioned about flash can also be important for other reasons (primarily search engines related):

Search engine spiders do not read flash documents. As a result, it's very hard for an index like Google to afford your pages the weight they need to be listed higher.

It would also be wise to include an html site map somewhere on the pages (like a navigation bar). Also, written text that is not included in the flash portion would help, as would titles and metatag descriptions for each page.

Splash pages are nice and everything, but they have no content. Search Engines always give more weight to the main index page of a site, so the more written information you provide there, the better.
