View Full Version : Print on Demand for Comic Books?

I recently made an order through Lulu.com for my graphic novel- the printing was pretty shoddy as well as the customer service! The first run the blacks were not solid, and there streaks on certain pages. The second time, after contacting customer service, they reprinted my order. The blacks were solid this time but the streaks were worse. It seems to be a problem with the printer, because the streaks occurred on the same location but on different pages.

In the end, they're going to refund me and I am sending back the books, but with all these problems, I am trying to find another POD company that can print screentoned (B&W) graphic novels in American Standard Comic size (6.95 X 10.55 i think?).

Anyone have any suggestions?

(I'm in the USA)

indyplanet, ka-blam, comicxpress.

Thank you! It looks like indyplanet and ka-blam are one in the same as far as printing goes, and are a fair bit more expensive than comixpress.

Has anyone used comixpress with success? They're definitely the best rates for quality that I've seen, but I don't know anyone with direct experience.

I'm actually curious to know about this too. After hearing about your experience with Lulu, I'm a bit anxious to know what ComiXpress is like.

Guess I have to try and experiment.

here's a thread on another forum with some words on several pod publishers - http://www.drawingboard.org/viewtopic.php?t=36388

even mentions Comixpress.
