Hello and welcome to my sketchbook thread.

Here you will see my attempts to a.) overcome being intimidated artistically by my wife, the lovely and formidable Teigrob (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=43336), b.) track my progress and c.) draw as well as my bride.

I have a loooooooong ways to go to reach her level, but you never reach the top of the mountain by just looking at the top from the bottom. It will take awhile as I stop drawing from time to time because of 1.) frustration at lack of perceived progress, 2.) life, specifically my two lovely children, and 3.) work, I work for the Evil Empire / Collective.

I decided to start with a candid shot of my sketchbook cover. I'm still a kid when it comes to stickers. Coupled with the fact that it makes it easy to identify my sketchbook at a glance.

The actual sketchbook page are all from reference. The woman is from Art Models book. The reference call Amazon Stringing Her Bow. A master copy of Michelangelo and Bridgman.

Structure of form, proportions, and perspective are my areas of greatest weakness.

Crits welcomed.

Been a busy time these last few months. Win 7 shipped, daughter turned two, and I am now severely asthmatic and not sleeping much due to lack of air. But I'm working, alive, and have a beautiful wife and children.

Some life drawings at the Microsoft Company Meeting, studies from Walt Reed's The Figure (http://www.amazon.com/Figure-Classic-Approach-Drawing-Construction/dp/0891340971/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257148046&sr=1-1), and life drawings based on studies in The Figure. Specifically female hip structure.

Also tried my hand at a self-portrait (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2498265#post2498265) for International Self-Portrait Day.
