Found this mentioned on Joystiq. Apparently, Warren Spector's making a dark, steampunk Mickey Mouse game. For Disney.

Some concept art is being leaked. Here's a taste.

"CVG has learnt that the game is indeed called Epic Mickey and it's being worked on by ex-Deus Ex man, Warren Spector at his Junction Point studio. But the internet already seems to know that.

We've since been told that it's a Wii-exclusive where you paint your way through levels using the Wii Remote. This 'painting your way' involves you drawing, etching and erasing whole or parts of levels as you go. Capcom's Okami immediately springs to mind but we've not got enough info to go on to make any kind of informed judgement.

As for the story, we've also been told that it'll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey, presumably because they're jealous of all his fame and fortune. We Googled 'early Disney characters' and found that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returned a lot of hits. A bit before even CVG's time all that though.

So not much to go on. We've contacted Disney about the extra info but don't really expect any confirmation as the game's still unannounced. But looking at the concept art, we're quietly excited already. There's plenty more guesswork to be found on NeoGaf."

I thought it was a pretty cool concept, and it looks highly intriguing. Regardless of how the game turns out, I want to know more about its story.

A post-apocalyptic, steampunk game involve Disney characters bent on revenge . . . that you paint your way through?

If Spector hadn't already mentioned that he was working on a cartoon-related game I'd probably assume this an elaborate hoax/joke.

And I'm still not convinced it isn't :)

is it just me or do the first few sketches look a little crappy for what Disney would want?

I think it looks cool, but i think it sucks that it's only for the Wii... the graphics suck in the wii..

I think they're partially just to show off some concepts. But yeah, they're a step back compared to the awesome environmental sketches.

...or the exact opposite.
It's developed by the same guy who did System Shock, so I have hope for it.

It could go either way. Personally I'm not impressed with the concept art, the idea itself has much more potential. Spector should post it in the critique center.
