so I'm doing pop art..
I understand that more then 4 or 5 colors in pop art makes it too confusing correct?
My subject is in the front, and a expanded ghostly image of it is behind it..
for my color sceme I was thinking Red & Orange for the subject in front
and blue&purple for the expanded ghostly image of the subject behind..
is that too many colors?
or would it be wiser to shift the attention from the pic of smaller subject to the ghostly subject behind it?
sorry if I'm killing you with simmilar questions that you might have asnwered more then 60 times :mod:

yea here you go... sorry for the long wait
the actaul car is a Alfa romeo spider 8
although hard to see the sketch http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/5148/pict1593.jpg
it's one small car on bottom
and a enlarged shadow/outline behind..
color schemes im thinking of are Green/orange (tropcial)
orange/blue
Orange/red
black/orange
i have no clue what colors would be appropriate for background as well..
i understand tht one is too big.. so
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5148/pict1593.jpg
plus the smaller car will be in acrylic paint
the larger car will be a very very soft transparent watercolor.. but the background should be acrylic

I suggest following the link in my sig and giving it a read.
I talks about color keying a piece and helps in picking the colors that would go well with it.

Do what looks good. There's likely far more at play in your image than arbitrary rules.

maybe not black and orange,
Orange/Red-violet with a key of blue-green. That way you can have a warm piece with cooler accents.

yeah its an 80 pager :) but lots of good info in it.
also before jumping into the large piece how about doing a couple of tumbnails with a few color schemes to see what works and what dosen't before going straight to the large piece.
maybe scale your image down and print a few out.. or just rough it by hand.
that way you can try out different colors on the cars, see which works better at what color.
