There are two excellent "Digital Painting in PS" threads in CA's Photoshop forum - those should help. Basically, it can be nice to start out with very simple, hard-edged brushes and paint with varying opacity. It's a very straightforward approach that allows you to focus on getting the forms and colors right. When you feel comfortable, you can start creating your own custom brushes and/or using ones created by other artists. These can accomplish all sorts of different looks, and it's really just a matter of experimenting around. Another trick you can use is to select shapes with the lasso tool and paint within those shapes with custom brushes - good for making sharp edges.

Sure thing! :D Just remember to experiment a lot. Figure out what works best for you - digital painting in any program affords a lot of different ways of working, and you can use whichever ones you like. But resources like that thread can definitely help you get there. :) I also recommend this video (http://www.vimeo.com/5666254) and the others by the same artist...really inspired me to start working a little more roughly and quickly.
