For a project, I'm working on a mask. It's a clay sculpt on top of a plastic hockey mask.

Now, the sculpt itself is working fine, but once we'd built up the eye sockets we realized we probably couldn't mold it quite the way we'd played. They're deep and stick out a bit. BTW, there actually would be a hole through the eyes, but we covered the hole with tape to make it easier to partially cover it with clay.

We'd planned a two part plaster mold, but the eye sockets cause a bit of an undercut. We were debating doing a plug or something.

What do you guys think? We're pretty new to this. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Our eventual plan was to make resin copies.

Thanks!

if you want make a mold for the mask whit silicone, you can do this perfectly ,or latex could be too,and this materials especiality the first is excelent for resin copies, only cut the eye sockets whitout any problem.

Take a look at these tutorials on youtube. You can also buy the products from them as well. Hope this helps

This screams fibreglass from a 1 piece mould (plaster would do it - just remember to seal/release it :P).

There's nothing wrong with tweaking the sculpt to make it easier for yourself in the future, plus if you pull the cast while the glass is still a little green you can get away with small undercuts - which is what you have here.
