After being a silent guest for a while, i finally decided to officially introduce myself to all the talented people here!
My name is Erwin Prib, i study production design in Berlin, Germany. I want to present you my last project. It was the design for a science fiction short film "Invasion of the Planet Earth". Part of the job was to design a spaceship, that had to be built as a full-scale 30ft tall model( and CG). It was an exciting work, because such projects are a real rarity here!
The german airforce made some reconnaissance flights with their tornados and apaches to find out, what strange activities were going on on that clearing and what strange aircraft was standing there...

My work differs from the stuff usually shown here, i hope it will be ok for you. I show you some photographs and a few of my production drawings. Well, i am really not proud of my drawing skills, usually i have some talented guys in the art department, who are much better in it, but i am willing to learn from all the masters around here!

And BTW i am really interested in this Thunderdome Thing, if anyone thinks, we would make a good match-up, i am waiting for you! As you can see, I am not the new drawing sensation here, but may be have some decent ideas... ok that should be enough text for this time...

Nice.... but very old school. Im personally not very into the more retro look, and that seems to be what you have gone for. That is purely personal preference tho. I like the character hiding behind the grass, but your mechinal drawings are very two dimensional. maybe try drawing from a more interesting perspective, instead of the perfect symmetry you have gone for (with the digger). You seem capable of it :) If you want the retro look, go ahead, although personally i would suggest trying more modern designs. look at the work of feng zhu (www.artbyfeng.com) or doug chiang (www.dchiang.com) for inspiration- they are some of my personal favourites, and of many others on these forums. Keep up the good stuff, but try and focus on improving your mechanical drawings and making them sharper perhaps.

I think the first image is great as the concept is the main focus. In subsequent images it is a detail that doesn't really integrate well into the overall scheme of things.

I think that Toby has made a good observation that your perspective is generally flat on and it makes it difficult to generate too much interest. Here are a couple of my own images where I've used vanishing points. It helps to create depth, show scale and give a sense that the object is about to move or be animated:

Doing images front on has a tendency to create static looking images/designs. Just a thought.

I haven't seen too many people doin' the "retro" look so you might find your own style in it, but try not to be limited by it.
