Very small question about Flash

I don't seem to be able to find an answer to this, and my friends who know Flash are not online for me to ask...and the video tutorials and normal tutorials I've looked at have not given me an answer (maybe because it's so simple and easy and obvious that they wouldn't)

Why can I not erase the lines of my symbols? I'm just doing some really early, beginner practice, and cannot seem to figure it out... I know there's just a button or option somewhere I can press, but...what is it/where is it? Thanks. I know this is a really small question compared to other stuff posted on this forum.

I don't know much about flash, only just recently looked at it myself, are the lines still there when you do a test run? It might be that they are just there in the design view so you can see what your looking at?

I could be completely making it up :op really not sure.

Did you doubleclick on the symbol in the scene or library in order to edit it?
