Well, I sat down for my first serious dealings with Super Sculpey and things didn't come out too shabby. I decided to make some "Ent inspired" Christmas gifts that were a little more personal and whipped up a couple pencil/brush tins for my brother and a friend. After seeing some of the sculpting talent in this section I know I have a loonnnng way to go, but it's a lot of fun anyway. Please be kind! Heh heh heh!

yea! glad to see what you have been working on dan. these are great looking and fantastic gifts. what did you make the hair/moss with?
on a side note. there is "sculpy" and there is "super sculpy". the one that every one wants to use is "super sculpy". also a favorite of my sculptor friends is one called premo. it is basically super sculpy but comes in different colors and is a bit firmer.
go dan go!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the encouragement!
Jon: Thanks so much! It was good to hear from you. That's actually real moss on there attached with a hot glue gun. I had some left over from a terrarium I made for my oldest son and his frog and thought I'd put it to use. I'm pretty sure it has a good shelf life, it might dry out a little, but I guess you could put some fresh stuff on there if it got too dried out...uhhh...I hope! :D

Giottoface: Thanks so much! Yes, there is a coating of Sculpey matte glaze on both of them. I think it shows up better on the first.

These pieces are really, really beautiful... I think the facial features and expressions are very good modeled and find very interesting and creative what you do with their hair.
A pair of questions: what size are them? Did you draw any study before?
Keep on working, I want to see more! :)

Thanks Asmodeus! They we're a lot of fun to make. To answer your questions...I just took a plain soup can and modeled both of them around it. So they're roughly 4 1/2 inches tall, 3 inches in diameter. I didn't do any sketches ahead of time, just kind of pictured them in my head and dove right in! Thanks for the interest!
