I have this book by Bruce Block called:
The Visual Story: Seeing the Structure of Film, TV, and New Media
www.bruceblock.com
This is a great book that really breaks down the elements of picture-making for visual story tellers, be it for a film, a game, or a painting. Its pretty analytical, but its not a formula. He's just clearly laying out the facts and describing the tools all artists use to make good pictures.
After you read this, you will feel like God, or maybe just Orson Welles. You will be in control. I am a believer in Bruce Block now. One of my figure instructors at Ringling who was an animator at Disney preached about this book, and now I know why. Its one of those few that you just have to have.
Don't wait. You want to read this before you make any more art!
