I have some money I'd like to spend on a new tablet for concept art in Painter X (maybe 11 eventually).

I'd like to know, should I get a refurbished Intuos3 6 x 8, or an Intuos4 small.

I'm leaning towards the Intuos3....

The real question is, is the Intuos4 really THAT much better than the Intuos3 to justify downsizing or paying a lot more money?

Please read some of the other posts on this forum, or do a quick search. This topic has been fully covered more than once and in a lot of threads.

To answer briefly: It all depends on your budget. In a year or so they will release the next versions of this stuff and the question is do you want to be one step behind or two. For a digital painter there is not a huge difference at all, all you need is pressure and in some areas tilt sensitivity and most modern tablets have that down well.

Get a larger model, the actual difference between i3 and i4 is NOT that big as between intuos 2 and 3.
