nah i don't play hardcore, i played hardcore on 1.09 because of the hacks, but since it's ladder and there are no hacks, 1.10 is great on sc

will do. It might be a while - im not gonna spend any money until i start college and budget for textbooks/transport/software+hardware etc. possibly web hosting also.

In the meantime, my friend is going overseas computerless and he gave me his copy of War of the Ring (The LOTR Real time strat). Ive played only the first few campaign missions, and it seems good. It may not be up to the standard of WC3, but its unique and a good break from RTS normaldom. If anyone plays it, lemme know (or if you want to know more about it). On that note, i also play WC3 the frozen throne, UT, BG2, ToB and Gunbound online.

I just took War of The Ring back cos it was ghey, and exchanged it for The Diable Battle Chest (D1, D2, D2LOD, Start guide (LOL!))

The guy was so cool, the LOTRWOTR package was clearly opened and the cd's were clearly used, and he just goes..........................ah fuck it its not my money. LOL! I was like....dont you even wanna know i didnt copy it?? DO i get no respect for my honesty KEKEKE.

Anyway a few questions about playing online:

1. Wat is the latency like. Im on 56k, a stable connection and i can run games like Warcraft 3 fine....so i assume D2 wont be too harsh cos its fairly old....Also my diallup auto - disconnects every 4 hours. Do games usually last more than 4 hours??


2. Characters: Can they be cross imported BOTH ways, ie can i

a)Import from singleplayer to multiplayer
b)Import from multi to single with the char i originally exported

3. Assuming i can import my char from SP to MP, at what level should i start playing MP, and how easy is it to level up?(depending on party member levels etc)

4. I finished the SP mode numerous times when i borrowed it off a friend....so im not a bad player, but what pitfalls should i look out for in MP that i wouldnt know about (hacks, teamkills etc)

Okay here's how it goes out.

1.) If you have 56k I would suggest being one of the warrior classes. This would basically mean that you can take more hits, so its a little safer to play online. It's not that bad, but on weekends you can definately see the awful lag. Back in the older versions of D2 there were major hacking problems, that led to serious server wide lag. Now that the new version is out, they fixed a lot of the lag problems.

2.) Single player characters can be played on OPEN battle.net. Open battle.net is just awful. Hacked characters, lots of hacking going on, just generally not fun. When you make a character on the multiplayer, it goes on the server, and there are ways to get the info on your system through third party files, but unless you do that, it stays on the server to prevent hacking etc.

3.) Just jump right in to the multiplayer, there's really no penalty to dying if you play a non-hardcore player (Hardcore: you die, your character cannot be played again) If you play a normal character, if you die, you basically just create a bunch of frustration for you and you have to get your body. Or you can just leave and rejoin and your body is at the starting act. (so complicated, eh?)

4.) The game is pretty good now, since version 1.10 came out.

I'll play with you on USEast, we can start new characters. I haven't played in a few months though ;).

Im in australia, so my closest server would be USWEST ... or asia....but i dont remember much diff in server latency when playing warcraft 3 so if you prefer USEAST we can play that.

Ill start a multiplayer character (Thinking Barb, just cos im noob, or assasin cos i finished Single Player on Hell with a trapassin and it has that sence of nostalgia) tonight.

Its 11:38 am here now, so ill be on in about 8 hours.

I used to play nonstop. when LOD first came out i went 5 days without sleep.. i was in the top 200 for assassins at the time.. 5 days in and was like 73 or so.. But anywho. needless to say that game overran my life so i had to hide the games permanently. - chudds

that game got me into friendships with ppl who taught me basic web design and what i should learn first. I started talking on ozoneasylum.. and suddenly as my interest in art grew , cfb mentioned this site.. and came here. so atleast it did lead to some good things

well my account was hacked somehow so im done too. i was able to get a new pass form bnet because they had my email address so i did get the account back..

if you guys want to start a new game then try out pristontale... its simular to D2 but you dont have to do the smae thing over and over again... plus all you have to do is dl it and its a free game... peace

I was on a diablo 2 binge fairly recently. Here's my necro template, which is excellent for soloing and group games:

MAXED SKILLS
Skeleton mastery
Summon Skeleton
Bone Spirit (Essential for soloing, particularly against bosses...it's non-elemental magical damage, which is crucial to have in Nightmare mode.)

10 points in Corpse Explosion

5 points in Revive

1-pointers
Summon resist (Why only one? Because with +skill items, that's all you'll ever need.)
Fire Golem
All curses except for the left 3 collumn, which are optional.

For items: Get as many +skill items as you can, and a lot of +resist items. All other stats are inconsequential, though you might wand to keep some good magic item %+ items onhand for mephisto or baal runs.

For abilities, Get as much STR as you need to wear armor. (Around 100+ or so) do NOT put any points into DEX, put LOTS of points into vitality, and put SOME points into Energy. (Avoid putting too much into energy because you can rely on mana potions.)
