Hey folks,
We work with Massive Black pretty regularly and they told us that ConceptArt.org was “the” place to find the best up and coming talent in the world of illustration.
So here's the deal. World famous ad agency, Young & Rubicam (Y&R to all you Mad Men fans) is looking for a few awesome illustrators to help us with one of our most exciting yet partially pro-bono clients, MAVERICKS Surf Company.
Off the coast of Northern California, ½ a mile out, nestled in some of the most hostile and dangerous waters in the world, lives the MAVERICKS wave. Surfing here equals death wish. Yet, year after year, with only 24hr notice, surfers from all over the planet converge on this great white infested widow maker to see who has the stones to surf it. In a word SUPERHUMAN
Mavericks Surf is the official organizer and custodian of the Mavericks wave and the annual Mavericks Surf Contest.
Right now the company is gearing up for the launch of its new apparel line, and expanding they're brand and exposure with a new website and documentary series. That said, we as their agency of record are looking for new ways and idea to push the MAVERICKS wave and lifestyle.
So where do you do you come in? Well, right now we’re trying to pitch the idea of limited edition serious of posters, shirts and apparel featuring original artwork in vein of fantasy artist Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo. Work would be very tongue in cheek and nod to the concept of a lone surfer on his metal death board, with mermaids, sharks, giant squid and all of the ocean and natures fury trying to destroy him.
We have no money for this right now, the economy sucks and its just a pitch right now. But we feel that it could easy go through if we have the right artwork and concept. If we can sell it through, there will be multiple pieces commissioned and of course money involved for sure. More importantly, however the amount of exposure this contest garners will help propel the artists we use into orbit professionally. MAVERICK is sponsored Nike, REI, Vitamin Water and others, so there is more than just a possible paycheck at the end of this project. And besides, if anything you'll get a fierce commissioned portfolio piece out of it.
If you are interested, please contact me, Orme Dominique via the forum or directly at orme_dominique@sfo.yr.com.
I’d love to hear from you,
Cheers,
-o
