So, what is the normal routine to study the right human proportion and draw the right concept art so it helps when modeling a model?
Go to life-drawing classes?
does sketching from sports, fashion, dancing magazines help?(that's what I am doing now.)
Should I begin to study painting in photoshop now or later?
(maybe after I get good with drawing since I suck.)
HELP~
Cheers everybody!:chug:
Everyone's doing so well!
Thx

I'm not sure there's a unique method to learn how to draw... to each his own...
Life-drawing, sketches, with a model...all are excellent ways, recommended, even necessary.
But maybe what is the most important is to draw with pleasure and fun as often as you can. It doesn't mean avoiding doing hard different things. Be interested in all you see and try to understand how it's made...Use this in your own work.
if you have fun trying Photoshop, do it. if you do it with fun, you'll progress faster. Just keep in mind it is just another tool to produce pictures. You'll be stronger if you learn how to paint "traditionnaly". it's more than useful...
And above all, be objective and learn to question yourself about your work. What's good ( it's important ) and what is not...

Drawing from life is definately, definately the way to go. For a beginner, though, it can be a bit difficult getting started. If you are drawing people, it may seem like everything is moving too fast for you to draw. If that is the case, then start with inanimate objects or ask a friend to sit for you. Or better yet, draw each other at the same time.
As far as tutorials for Photoshop, well, you can find them anywhere. Go to a search engine and type "Photoshop tutorial", or something like that. You'll get a bunch. Also, try Adobe's website. There's bound to be some on there. I would, though, agree with Aleksi in that Photoshop is just a tool. In order to create anything satisfying, you first need to learn all the basics...proportion, color, lighting, etc. Of course, learning how to use Photoshop is a wonderful skill to have. The earlier you learn it, the better off you'll be. I would say its probably one of the most important skills you'll need if you go to art school.

I totally agree, guys.
Photoshop is only a tool, just as 3dsmax and other application. The only one who's gonna make a difference in the work is the artist and the ideas and the skill to transform the ideas.
I realize that I really should go to a life-drawing class.
But like bwiseman said drawing objects that are moving can be tricky. I guess I should practice a lot more not just on the face , but the overall motion and other still objects.
Which reminds me of one thing that happened today:
I drew a couple of pictures and went to a friend who's been taking drawing classes with big money for a while now. She simply refuses to tell me anything and implied that she only LOOKS at REAL LIFE DRAWINGS and in their classes, they don't even care about magazine drawings! She really ....
I don't get it. Why did she think so low of me? Just because I am practicing magazine drawings? I am a beginner(a poor one!). What am I suposed to do but to look more, think more, and practice more. Some people.....
Thank everyone for the comments and advices, I updated my page today with two more drawings. Thank you.
JACK.
P.S. Does anyone have a good site with good illustraions on muscles and skeletons? I will try photoshop on my own.
