View Full Version : Fredram's Sketchbook
July 25th, 2009, 12:43 AM
Hi guys, been lurking for years now, and have found great inspiration around this threads.
I ' ve decided to open my sketchbook thread here as well. It will contain whatever I am working on during my spare time. Sketches, speeds, some more finished stuff as well. I consider my work to never be that rendered or finished so I feel it's more appropriate to post it in this section than in the finished section.
Hope you guys enjoy the visit ;)

Rabbi: Hey man, I 'll answer your question on the specific thread ;)
Now no post without art right cuz else wtf so here are some wips, unfortunately I don't save my process often or i flatten everything and lose steps.
Anyhow here is an example of some basic steps while doing the pig character. Line, then watercolors in painter with some touch ups, very little, in photoshop, and there you go.
And a sketch of the environment from the first post.
And 2 sketches done at 3am because my nights are awesome lately with my fantastic neighboors who don't sleep and my two months old kid who wants to be like my neighboors ...
Thks for watching !

Now some vehicles, and a WIP for one of them. Post ap, for these ones, one madmax feel and one modified tank.
For the WIP, I went in quiet randomly, a bit messy so I had a lot of effort to do in the clean up part. Better start clean for tech stuff.
Cheers and thks for stopping by.

nice work. loving the thumnail sketches.
The vehicles are awesome too. very creative.
Just to be honest, i dont think too much of these (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=734374&stc=1&d=1248661415). The textured brushes look quite messy. Maybe try keeping them a little more cleaner. Other than that, great work. *thumbs-up

Hey! This is a great start! Great stuff here too!
I have a question:
For that first environment you posted a sketch you made of it.
Do you first sketch an environment and then put colours over it?
Or do you just jam a bunch of colours ontop of each other and it will eventually look like your original sketch?
I'm curious because many speedpainters don't have a digital sketch of sorts and just paint on.
Great stuff, keep it coming!

Great work all around. Love your presentation skills too. Nice design work.
Where did you get the background textures. Is it stock, is it a brush effect?
