Hey guys,
I'm new to the site and I'm just wondering whether this is just a site for graphical artists (i.e. illustrators, painters, cartoonists) or does anyone have any interest in 'conceptual art'. When I mean 'conceptual' I mean thought provoking art. Art that demands interpretation by the viewer; the art doesn't tell you in black and white what it's meant to be saying. If anyone is interested in conceptual art can they leave a message. I've got loads to talk about and maybe it will give some of you more classical artists an added edge to your work. I am really really impressed by the majority of the artwork I've seen on this site. You guys are pretty talented!! :D

well, most people here around are into the "technical" side of art.

They (and me included) try to reach a higher level of sketching/drawing/painting technique, either to create realistic and/or technically "correct" art.

It's hard to say... most people here have a very classic viewpoint considering art. Abstract paintings are not very beloved - but skillful abstract paintings with good techniques, composition, color and so on are alway welcome.

But I only speak in general. You won't find much people here that would call this:

for example, "art".

This means not the whole forum is intolerant, but this forum is basically to improve oneself's skills and techniques.

Try your luck, post some of your provoking art and get eaten by the masses... or not :D

well, as I said, I only spoke for the general taste of art I experienced in this forum.

I really like a couple of modern artworks, but you can't define what's art and what's not today.
So I can't understand plain purple walls or breads with color on it.
I went to a modern art exhibition and saw a lamped crushed into a pushing cart. Well, I don't understand it, if there's something to understand.

But I would never think of dictating my opinion on art :)
