yes... it's a trolloc

Okay, so a few reasons I had to get this image out. I'm a latecomer to this Wheel of Time series of books, I'm about done with the forth and there are ten now. There are ever-present monsters in them called Trollocs for anyone who doesn't know. I don't care for them much really, just typical killing machines. Yet, I've seen very little art of them and what I have seen, I haven't cared for much. So I had to do this here to get it out of my head and paint them the way I saw them. Still didn't quite get it.

I just don't like it much. I tend to fall into that orange/blue color palette too much. I don't care for the results it makes, but I don't know how else to do this. So, I am looking for a little color advice if anyone has it, and also composition advice. Any other suggestions as to how to make this more exciting, I'd like to hear them.

Hey, I've been reading the WOT books for awhile, just finished book six myself... I've seen the art for the WOT world book and I am disapointed to say the least.. Your image is a little dark, but I get the feel for the trollocs. The Myrdrall or however you spell it is nice too.

Hey Dan. Yes, I remember looking at your thesis at school and you had illustrated a bunch of scenes from the books, right? Thanks for the response. Yeah it's a little dark; best to see in on a black background. It's tough to paint black things at night being only light by fire and out of sight moonlight.

I like the Trolloc in the fore ground... and I think the background is weak compared to it. I don't think the fire looks much like actual fire... but I have problems with that too.

The books are alright. 10 is an abomination though... truly horrible book. 9 however... rocked.

I didn't know that was you, had to look at your web site to see who it was. I hated my thesis, I get sick every time I think of it. How are you doing? Hope everything is going well for you. I should of said more about your piece, but I was short on time, so I'll say it now. LOL I think your version of the Trolloc way beats the pics I've seen. The background fire is ok, but I'm not gonna crit on that cause fire is a pain in the ass to do. Good Job on the horse... beats the crap out of the one I did for my 'thesis' LOL anyways hope all is going well for you and your career.
