Protected File

So I recently had a couple of my sketches scanned as Tiffs at the local Kinko's but I can't unlock them from background into layers and if I try to change levels and color adjustments the changes just get undone automatically, can anyone provide a solution?

Just copy the background onto a new layer, then remove the background.
