quickie...
the pentalpha represents the five wounds of christ, as well as the eastern star, and has been misinterpreted by satanism in the last century because of Eliphas Levi's drawing of Baphomet, the goat headed demon of lust, within the star.
It's a holy symbol, and not an unholy one, and turning this symbol upside down doesnt dismiss the fact that it's still a 5 pointed star.
That's why i'm a little disappointed in Id software for not doing their homework and just going with a stereotype.
meh, anyway, thought i'd give a little chunk of info there.

Hi!
My first time in DSG. *excitement!*
As I understand it, bashing oneself is deemed inappropriate in the DSG. So, I'll just let this image speak for itself... ;)

I hope it doesn't come out too dark. I just reinstalled my crappy system, and the settings might still be off...

Fun topic...
Agrajag - It looks great on my system, dark but clear.
evisr8r - Id's not the only one. I'd never heard that before today. In fact before I read your post the first thought in my head was 'why demonic?'

I think you have to paste the link in your browser for the picture to work ... sorry but I can't pay for a host. Anyways, I had the same idea as Agrajag, but I like what agrajag did with it.

This was a perfect opportunity to practice starfields and clouds.

Face me...
I hate drawing clouds, but I got saved by the brightness of this one. Allowed me to conceal much of the bad stuff.

Toaster, that's really cool.
one gripe though: She has just shot the person, but the gun is already smoking like it has been idle for seconds. I would replace the smoke with a muzzle flash to make it better.

Probably =P
I don't know a damn thing about guns and what they look like... I pulled up a Desert Eagle image quickly to even get the shape of that gun to look remotely believable.
As for how they act when they fire... its greek to me. Thanks for the advice.

Actually Railboy, I did use that one. I used the bottom one. I still can't do it right. I think I am cloud retarded:bash: .
I found this other one that was better, and actually worked for me, but I lost the link:( .

funshark if ur willing to edit that to make it blinding make the person brighter definately make the whole thing white on a low oppasity and add highlights on the mountains.. cause if u want it blinding u want it facing toward the camera

Anybody else think of the OPM song "Heaven is a Halpipe?"
Anyway, here it is:
http://www.angelfire.com/art2/hand3/Halfpipe.JPG
The lyrics are here: Has some "bad words" in it, but the part I'm talking about is in the begining.

Dfacto- that looks nice, but the figure at the bottom could give a stronger impact.. maybe just work the shilouette of the person a bit more, and make it more expressive?
this is heavens back gate, and it is being stormed :)

Just some notes on things that stood out to me.
Railboy Cool little idea for the doggie door, and that is a very good star field you did. Nice!
Dfacto Good you added the little figures at the bottom, they give a good idea of the grand scale of your gates.
phantom_head That’s cute, haha.
Kirt That is soooo awesome. It reminds me of a Larson cartoon.
Plaf That is a really good job, I like how you built up the clouds and the texture you have.
Brianl That’s pretty. I like the gritty look the surfaces have.
Hermchen Cool post, I like the idea.

so when i got to school i decided to risk computer privileges by going to a "non-school" related website and check the DSG with all intentions of working through my ideas off and on during school. but in the excitement of being able to drop band and pick up an art class i didn't get around to it. so when i got home i was playing guitar, going through my repitoir(sp?) when i started the intro to Led Zepplins famous... Stairway to Heaven. and i was going to do a funny one but it ended up with a message...
http://img9.photobucket.com/albums/v27/threelegged_chicken/strway2hvn.jpg
the message being... that no matter how hard a person tries on their own through good deeds and actions they will always fall short of heaven unless they've accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
sorry about the preachin'

so here it is 12:41 am and I've missed the deadline but I couldn't pass this chance up. I'm back from Christmas break and chillin' here at school getting stuff done for thie upcoming semester.
My first thoughts on "Heaven's Gate" were either Bob Dylan lyrics, Bible verses, or a state park. I kinda liked "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" (from the book of Matthew, chapter 7 verse 14) since it reminds me of those hiking trails we all try to find...
http://www.wsu.edu/~russell_/DailySketchGroupConceptArt/Heavens_Gate_Small.jpg
I'm not used to landscapes or environments so this was a challenge. I got bored drawing the trees over and over again so just added more fog and called it good.

Woah, silentbrain...that's just awesome. I dunno, there's just something about that that really gets me. Maybe it's the sense of purpose/motion/story you've managed to put in there.
Not to single him out of course, cause there are some truly stunning pieces in this thread. But I figured him being at the end and so late, not many people would comment on his picture and it really did strike a chord with me.
