Project name:
The Genesis Seed
Brief description:
The Genesis Seed is a Steampunk, scifi adventure game set in the near future, this future has an alternative history when compared to our own. In this time line the Earth has been struck by a deadly disease that is slowly but surely wiping out the population of the world. Because of the disease and the research to cure it (ultimately failing) the combined nations of the world have limited resources , economies have fallen and there are far too few healthy workers to keep production of resources going. Nonetheless the nations of the world come together to institute the construction of a Seed ship. A ship carrying cloned and genetically altered fetuses that will grow as the ship travels to the nearest inhabitable planet. In this way the human race can continue on long after the Earth is dead.
The Computer of the ship (An artificial intelligence designed to be mothering named “Mother Goose”,Will during its long journey steach the children as they grow in the tanks by systematically inserting memories, skills, stories and knowledge directly into their brains. Each clone is chosen based on the unique genetic makeup they hold to gain certain knowledge so that when they arrive they are uniquely qualified for specific positions such as doctor, a engineer, a agriculturist etc. Not long after launch, nearly eight to thirteen years of travel through the endless voids of space, the ship is caught in the gravitational pull of a long dead planet (seemingly so.) The planet which is actually a living organism telepathically scans the brains of the sleeping children and pulls out the fairy tales that have been inserted into their memories. it uses this knowledge to reshape its surface, creating cultures, creatures, fauna and an environment that uses the fairy tales of the children no matter how wonderful or horrible they are. The children are forced to land and face a series of challenges, first and foremost, conquering their own fears to find out the truth behind the living planet.
Target aim:
The game will be presented to the public for free on Kongregate. We will be pursuing a 100k sponsorship from them. If that falls through we will persue sponsorship through www.flashgamesponsorship.com.
Compensation:
This depends on if we receive sponsorship. If we do, everyone will be paid based on quality of work as well as a secured place for the next game which will be a commercial game based off the free flash.
Team structure:
*Patrick Quinn= Published author, video game reviews, award winning poetry and short stories, published technical manuals, freelance journalist. N/A
Additional Info:
I previously started this project about a year ago. Since then the team has been disbanded due to conflicting schedules, school and job requirements. I am now recruiting actively once more to continue building on the work already completed (Of which there is little). Anyone is welcome to join the team, despite your skill level. I understand that not all of you have worked on projects before and need a place to start. All I ask is maturity and a dedication to the project. Also know that all members get a say in what is put in the game and what is not. This is a democracy, we vote on plot and game features.
Feedback:
Any feed back is encouraged.
