I'd really appreciate some feedback on this. I can't figure out how to make the croup rotation work. :[
I know horses don't tilt heads like that, but that's intentional.

Thanks in advance.

Looking good, maybe...needs more frames at the end. The back front leg moves too quickly on the foward motion? the quick part makes it look a little limpy

Maybe it dosent sink into the setp enough..

Wow, missed that about the back front leg completely. Thanks for pointing that out, Ičll try to fix it with better spacing and placement.

Whoa, a horse! I think its backside rolls too much... it looks as if the spine is being twisted unnaturally. Also, the pace it is walking at does not call for the head to swaying as dramatically as it is currently doing so. Apart from that, it looks good. Maybe the front legs move a little too fast as well. I'm a bit sketchy on this however; I don't know horses that well! Anyway, I hope that helps :)

hey very nice! quadruped walk cycles always scare me haha, so much going on; the motion itself is looking very strong so far. I agree with phiq on the backside twisting a bit too much; also, the line between the back front thigh and the torso is giving me the impression that the leg is being overlapped by the torso, which is creating a sort of separation in the body. to go with phiq again I'm not too knowledgeable about horses, so take that with a grain of salt :) keep going though, lookin good so far!

Go back and take a good look at how a horse really walks. The hips roll slightly, the head doesn't. Depending on whether it is green or trained will probably determine how the horse carries itself too. Try doing a bit more research and look at the movement from all angles, that way you'll have a better understanding of the motions and your animation will be much more convincing.

If you can't get to a paddock or something, try youtube and definitely the BBC motion gallery (http://www.bbcmotiongallery.com) for some helpful refs.

Yeah, I think I'm going to lose the 'spine line' at all.

The head isn't swaying from the motion itself - horse is doing it on purpose. You know, happy horse. =)

I gave up on the backside, I'll try a different angle next time to use it better.

I'm pretty sure green and trained horses walk the same when free.

I'm afraid I have yet to figure out how to make many things work - as Zazerzs mentioned, it really doesn't sink into step - for a heavy animal there's not enough weigh shift, it's still limping 'cause the spacing is uneven, the overshoot in front legs pops a bit... Again, head isn't swaying from steps - horse is 'walking to imaginary beat'.

Thanks for the help, everyone! Hopefully I'll be able to fix the current issues in the second try.
