In the reaches of the tomb, he reached for the legendary Celtic sword, where it rested on the pedestal.

It was also too big for the scanner. Crits greatly appreciated

lovely feeling and style to it. i like it even though the proportioning is definatly not right, that hand doesnt look quite like a hand. The fingers are way to small in proportion to the thumb. Your ideas are amazing but you need to learn and study your objects before you draw them.

i wanst trying to offend you in this post i like idea, but if the proprotions were correct it would be even better.

:D

Sorry. I put it here cause it took forever.
And when I was done I was like "phew its finally finished."
To me sketches take an hour tops, this took four.

Nice start and usual angle

I would suggest that you increase the differences in contrast and surface textures in an image like this. Right now the picture is very grey and slightly flat looking.

The composition is different but easy to view, so the image needs more defining with areas of black and white to guide your eye (not just grey tones) and make it really stand out.

PS - Hope you don't mind, but how do you submit your own images for crit etc. I have only just registered and have no idea, can someone explain (in dumb 'I hate computers' speak) how to do this - Thanks in advance.

Yeah I noticed it is kind of flat. Note taken.

Here's how.
Get your picture on the internet.
When its up rightclick the picture, go to "properties" and copy the image location. It looks something like this: www.angelfire.com/thing/thing/mybeautifulpicture.JPG
Then click new thread (back on CA) and in the message place poke the IMG button with your mouse and paste the image location there.

This should be in the FAQ. I couldn't find it there. Its one of the most asked queries.

you suck. the idea is flat very flat. think angle boy.
I would have drawn a half naked woman reacing for the sword sticking out of a ripping demon who has been dead for thousands of years and the moment she pulls the sword the demon comes to life and ravages her only for her to get revenge in the next picture with a completly incoherent wepon
that has nothing to do with anything. But thats just me.

That is a pretty good picture, but I think that you could do a little bit better with the lighting and stuff. Plus, to me anyway, it looks a bit blocky. All in all though, its a good picture.

die_with_honor you would have the girl eyeless and th e sword would be bigger than her waste.

Mr. Teatime nice idea of drawing from his(I assume this) point of veiw. The needs a bit of shadow on it and should be a little more should be on his hand.

And I agree with you Mr. Teatime die_with_honor does suck HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAHAHAHAH:fire devil

I like the basic idea... theres a good atmosphere you put in your picture, however it my help if your shading were a bit more consistent and subtle (i know shading takes a long time :D), drawing takes practice, we all started at some point.

Hey die_with_honor if youre just going to post to say people suck why waste your time. Why type and waste time if you have nothing constructive to say, do something else besides bashing peoples artwork. And why don't you post some of your work, if you think everybodys work is crap, lets see how crappy or good your work is.

Devils jester is robert. I've got Mr. Teatime and Cake. Yes he needs kicking. But not really. You know what I mean.
On the hand I was trying to make it look like he was just about to grab the sword. Didn't exactly work that well.

Hey Mr Teatime,
The main crit that I've got for this artwork is the angle of the 'camera' or basically the angle from which the viewer is looking.
Looking at the pic it seems as though you were going for a Point Of View shot from the guy reaching for the sword. The problem is that it looks to me like the guy would either have to be flying above the altar thingy somehow to get that angle.

What you've done (i think) is drawn the pic from too much of a top down view so that it seems that the viewer is flying or something...when you're using POV angles you need to have the frame positioned at an angle that you would most likely view it from if you were looking at it yourself.
The angle you've used gives me a sense of vertigo because it seems like we're flying above it...not only that but the guy doesn't seem to have any body other than his arm...if he's looking downward enough to see the floor he should see some other parts of his body...however to do that from that angle *and* have a POV it would seem like his head was disconnected from his body.

Hope that's helpful...one day I'll get around to posting my own work for crits
