I like the emotion that you are putting forth in her stance, but i think that you need to work on your structure, and anatomy. Some good books to pick up if you are interested in honing your skills would be anything by Burne Hogarth (Dynamic Figure Drawing, etc.) Keep it up!

Mr. Teatime: For book suggestions do a search on the topic in the forum. Or click on over here...http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3358&highlight=recommend+books
I agree with previous crits (minus one in particular). Another good place to pick up some tips in the forum is the LIFE DRAWING, LEARNING, TECHNIQUES, & TUTORIALS area. Hope this helps and please keep drawing.

It's kind of sad when someone who's signature says "LIVE WITH HONOUR", doesn't live up to what they preach.
You've improved a great deal since I saw your first post in Middle class Mr. Teatime. I too, like her stance, and the look in her eyes. It's like she's daring anyone to mess with her. Work on the anatomy some more. You'll get it in time. Good work. Your characters have life.

Thanks nikia! :)
William over there is kind of sad sometimes (dwh)
allways talking about taking over the world and never doing anything about it.

I love girl’s and I love sword’s and I love girls with swords they turn… I better stop there… yeah this pencil sketch is cool, and I would like to see it finished. Also I think you should use more Photographic reference cuz that’s the best way to learn the human anatomy. The sketch it’s on the right track her body is all in the right proportions but needs more curves other wise she would look too masculine and less feminine, remember Girls are all about their lovely heap’s.
My tip is that next time you draw anything use a photograph and also start with the basic shapes of the body for example the head should always start with a sphere the torso and oval etc. and don’t pay attention to idiotic comments cuz we all are here to learn :)

I really like the expression on her face, and the composition is nice, although her pose is just a LITTLE bit stiff, not too bad though... but one of my main concerns is the folds in the clothing are undiscernable, if you made the whole picture have a tad bit more depth, I think the girl (and her clothing) would be a lot more accented on the paper, thus giving her a more life-like feel.
Keep up the good work...

One thing to try is to forget about shading at first just draw lines. Get the lines just right then think of tone. as for gettin the lines right its no secret draw draw draw and then draw some more!!

dude, you really need to work on your girls figure. Girls should be little around the middle and yours looks just a little off in that department but besides that it looks fine to me
P.S. good use of shading effects:evilbat:

meh...hogarthe is good for learning dynamic poses. The best life drawing books and tapes are by Vilppu(sp). He has awesome life in his work. Hogarthe doesn't totally suck, but it's a good starting book i think.
