Hello everyone, here is a pre-production drawing (visual development) for a canceled feature film project in germany :-(.
The script was based on a weird steven baxter short story, so I decided to experiment with the loose mystic Bilal-Style. This is one of the results. It was done with acrylic, ink and pastels. I hope, you like it.

I love Bilal and although it reminds of his stuff a lot, still you definitely left your mark on it and created something original.
Good job.

maybe too close to Bilal ...

Not knowing who Bilal was before this post my opinion might be a little new, but I really like this and don't think it's "too close to Bilal" as the linework and colour texture are done very differently, the only thing that is close is character style, which Bilal, I am sure, was not the first to come up with.

Great job and thanks for making me find out who Bilal was, I really like his stuff too now.

looks good, the lack of glare on the bubble bothers me though.

I really like it, but the lack of a siding on the spaceship that is closest to the viewee detracts from the flying feel.

Really interessant picture, and, you know what ? I thought that Tsutomu Nihei had a style which remembered me of Bilal, but it was too different because of the black and white. This painting is in between this two artists and make a really good junction : it has the color tones and the rusty part of Bilal and the manga freeze of Tsutomu Nihei. Well done ! It's a great painting !

That's some cool, inspiring stuff. The redish color adds a lot of character nice work

The inspiration shines really through, and i like the added lighting.
I think its a bit too low saturated (some variation could be nice) and I dont get the form of the glassy thing around his cockpit. (His visor, the cockpitglass and the metalparts shine in different directions, witch confuses me..)

Ps. i just bought "exterminator 17" and i so love this comic.

thanks alot for your comments and crits.

the glass bubble really needs some more glare.

unfortunately i don't have this piece anymore...
i had to finish it very quickly, it is really a pity with those jobs, you don't have the time to look a second time...
