Sup sexy! I am Kirill Kozyrev, concept artist, illustrator and I can do a shitload of other stuff. I have giant passion for videogames, and I'm already working in gamedev industry, but it's still a lot ahead of me. Currently I have crazy amount of stuff going on around me.

P.S. Would love to hear your comments and critiques )

Reach out for the better stuff on the last pages! (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=163009&page=19)

Of all of what you have posted, the last one is my favorite.
Word of advice: Use harder brushes in paint programs, that way they won't look so muddy as your current stuff.

Now scram to the last page!

Yea man ! Your landscapes are really nice dude :D I say that so easy, but try to get more details in it and smoother highlights :P

Seraph Fawkes
July 14th, 2009, 03:38 PM
From here stuff goes chronologically!
Thanks for good words, but details is timeconsuming, and my goal is to make good sketches in short time. With every work i'm trying to push my techniques further, so i hope soon enough i will be able to do much more in a few hours.

edit from previous post: Little update: this is concept of "spring" - area from the project, i'm currently in. Though this is not final art, i do realize now, that left side kinda messed up. Anyway - it's a sketch ) Plus - few older sketches.

Seraph Fawkes
July 20th, 2009, 02:14 PM
Updaitie... not that i'm glad with that image, but i was looking for improving technique, and i guess i'm stepped on the right way. Next time i'll do better

July 20th, 2009, 02:29 PM
interesting ideas here, i think you need to work on colors more, sharpen things up, and study anatomy.

Seraph Fawkes
July 21st, 2009, 02:53 PM
guess i've found good technique for drawing machinery and building without losing sharpness. now i'm regret that i didn't use square brushes earlier. here's some quickie

This was a good day. Finally finished another work. Here you go, a NeckJaw

Seraph Fawkes
July 26th, 2009, 04:40 PM
Today's quickies ) Was trying to increase speed and working on lighting. Ship took hour, and second one - hardly 30 min.

HAJiME
July 28th, 2009, 02:59 AM
Awesome, post more! Would love to see some early sketches and stuff, see how you build up to a painting. And studies and stuff. You work really quick too, so I'd like to see what happens if you spend a little more time on work.

Fantastic, keep it up!

Seraph Fawkes
July 28th, 2009, 03:06 AM
HAJiME Thanks for good words. Well, when i spend more time on refining you can whar happens in upper post with neckjaw. I think i can scan my old sketchbook for fun. About studies... funny thing - i almost never was doing them. I guess big part of my skill came from observing stuff around me, and than drawing from memory.

Seraph Fawkes
July 28th, 2009, 12:18 PM
I've made a rule to myself to do few 30min speeds everyday to improve speed\quality. Here's some results. I think there's a long road i need to travel to get super good at it. )

Seraph Fawkes
July 30th, 2009, 11:11 AM
Small upd. First one was made before dsg1498. Both speed 30-40 mins. I think i'm improving in ratio speed\quality.

Seraph Fawkes
August 2nd, 2009, 08:05 PM
Lil' update. I'm starting to dig the technique, where you draw lines, after that multiply layer with basic colors and shading, and then layer with more and more details, and then more.. Definetely it's easy and fast way to draw digitaly

Seraph Fawkes
August 3rd, 2009, 12:49 PM
Started this at morning, and finishing today at night. Already spent 2-3 hours. Guess it's not so bad )

Seraph Fawkes

Seraph Fawkes
August 8th, 2009, 03:31 PM

Seraph Fawkes
August 20th, 2009, 07:56 PM
Another 30mins. Though i'm lazy and sometimes draw real shit (not in the mood (( ) i have strong works, so i've get a job offer from one of the biggest russian gamedev\publishing company - Buka Entertainment - as 2d artist. Yeay ) Of course there's interview ahead and it's not big position, but i think it's already means something. Probably that i'm not lost cause )

Another speedie before bed )

Seraph Fawkes
August 26th, 2009, 04:52 AM
Not much of SP.. Probably hour and a half. I've tried here to draw sketches more aggressive. I've used Munin Raven's DSG'1503 as a guide - really like his style in digit sketches.

Seraph Fawkes
September 4th, 2009, 09:43 AM
Here's one of my biggest works. Girl was designed over a year ago, but i had no clue what to do with her. Finaly, about month ago, i've decided to make her some kind of gypsy\magician, performing on street, surrounded with crowd. Of course i've become quite lazy (plus institute), so i don't know when i'm gonna finish it ) Anyway, why not to post )

Seraph Fawkes
September 18th, 2009, 03:07 AM
Damn it's been a long time. OS went down, celebrated two bithdays (including mine), now fighting with tablet's drivers and ofcourse - institute and studying. Here's a little sketch from brush practice. Guess now i'm gonna be more openminded about using different texture brushes instead round hard and round soft )

Seraph Fawkes
September 18th, 2009, 04:58 AM

Seraph Fawkes
September 19th, 2009, 09:58 AM
Thanks for good words ) Here's another one speedy for today. Bit nostalgic - you know, autumn and stuff... And two shamefull speeds made in Colors! on Nintendo DS. Damn it's good to have portable. Hope soon i'm gonna ace it, because i'm already starting to understand fast work with colors.

Seraph Fawkes
September 21st, 2009, 04:28 PM
This time i've got something better. Another enviro speedie made out of nothing (so design kinda sucks and it's all about technique) and DS sketch inspired by Mini Ninja's game. )

Well this was a long time since my last posting, but it just because i had a lot of work to do. I had few sites to design, and i've joined guys at Mountainwheel (http://www.mountainwheel.com/forum/index.php), and for now have a lil' sidejob for one band here, in Russia. So some time later i'll post some of these works (there's tons of concept art).

However i had a time for a few doodles for myself, to practice, so here they are, and i hope you'll like it! GL!

Hey man, looking good.
I have to say though, some of your characters have a certain stiffness. Doing gesture studies will help with this alot and a good gesture can really spice up the character.
I like the woman's pose on the last one and it is looking very promising overall.

Keep it up and happy holidays! :)

Just a little update to this wip. I imagine, that this guy is from the steam-punk world, which was almost destroyed in a horrible disaster, but he found a way to reestablish flora, using blood - sort of sacrifice for the nature. Probably this sounds cheesy )

February 16th, 2010, 12:33 AM
Hmm... Thing is it that this came out of speedpainting (just can't stop detailing) so at first i've hadn't intention to make it super realistic. Probably he is a little bit stiff, but i've thought that this is because he's tense and the suit itself holds him tight. Even when i game my eyes rest from it and mirrored image i've didn't catch any serious problems. Anyway i'll try to look into this - thanks mates! )

P.S. Oh, to think about - the right arm is short, because i've gave a more length to his legs! So yeah, arms make it look strange )

I'm currently quite busy - webdesigning for food and work on nda project. Also a little side job (doing some art). Soon i'll do a great update, but for now i can post just those pencil scans (i like meachanical pencils, so shadows on the first from ps). Thx and keep looking out for me )

Hey there! I like your sketchbook, you've got some nice concepts in here ;)
I do have a crit for you: Your characters seem to be very static, they look like a wooden plank, if you know what I mean...
I've got the same problem when i'm drawing a character the majority of the time, but you can do studies wich can help with that! :D
Loomis studies, or bridgeman's should really help. They both have a lot of pages in their books about movement in anatomy etc.

Anyway, i hope this helps... Keep up the jolly good work mate :)

I know what you mean - i'm already working on it, and next studies will be about dynamics ) Anyway thanks for stopping by.

very nice improvement mate.i already like these better.Yea try to work also in the motion, its just how you will place the main masses(if you dont place them linear, then you have flexibility). You gonna get it fast i know.
keep up

Seraph Fawkes
March 16th, 2010, 11:59 AM
thanks kostas - i am workin on it. Lot's of it on paper though, and i'm quite lazy when it gets to scanning.
Anyway, thank you all, who decides to stop by and drop some C&C - it's very nice and keeps me motivated for free drawing. In a few days, now for realsies, i'll post a lot of new stuff )

Seraph Fawkes
April 19th, 2010, 05:25 PM

@ Naram Sinha Oh that thing... Yeah, you little drunk philosopher)
@ Asahi-SD- Thanks mate, though i've never ever smoked pot or used other drugs )
@ Starr Thank you. I do like to keep image clean, though sometimes because of that i can't detail it all right.
@ Gloominati I'm trying from time to time do studies (when i'm really out of ideas). I've always thought that I've never had a feel of colour.

So yeah, this one is not a big update, but something: enviro wip, pencils and one more cute guy )

It's been almost 4 days, and something good happend - I was invited to gamedevelopers conference KRI for job interview at Nival (you might know them from HoMM5). I've get 3 day freepass, wich normally cost 200 bucks. Even if won't get the job, I would be able to roam there for a lot of good stuff.

Also new Splinter Cell on PC (my xbox currently broken and I still can't buy new one, cause I'm saving for Cintiq) so yeah, it's hard to get drawing )

And for art.. nothing special, just little sketches, i made before bed - all those days i was finishing with my last paid work.
edit: yeah, i know hands mispropotioned here... i was drawing with almost closed eyes )
edit2: added values )

kingkostas
May 2nd, 2010, 07:02 PM
you are making great improvement mate. When you will find time to study more anatomy, you will be able to improve a lot more.

keep up the good work

Seraph Fawkes
May 6th, 2010, 06:13 PM
Well it was few days without updates... But now it worth it ) Finally I've bought Intuos4 and it rocks! Hell yeah, new tablet!. Of course once I've played with cintiq21 there's nothing that could top that, but it's gonna be about 3-4 months before I would be able to afford it... Whatever, here's enviro!

ArtZealot
May 6th, 2010, 07:16 PM
I like that last enviro, the overall color scheme and the little lights in those pillar/archway things are working really well. The only crit would be possibly some more things to reference scale. Maybe a dude in the foreground overlooking it or some little dudes walking under those pillars or something. Regardless, it's great work, keep it up!

Seraph Fawkes
May 7th, 2010, 01:07 AM
Well, idea appeared in middle of the work - leftovers of some base, totally abandoned by people, but inhabited by something strange. As scale clues i've left walls in foreground with some signs, and a sort fusebox on the right wall. I just thought that I should try something else, rather thatn adding man again to feel the scale (but yeah, it probablt didn't work out). Anyway, thanks for c&c ))

kingkostas
May 14th, 2010, 08:42 PM
yep these problems exist but i can say that mate you are doing very nice improvement lately.Definitely keep up the anatomy studies cause you have to become free of it to unlock more areas. The lightning is less abstract and improved in your enviro works.
Actually you are doing great ,just keep studying

Seraph Fawkes
May 15th, 2010, 08:00 AM
Krato doing, just not posting) sometimes it gets ugly with values
kingkostas keeping going ;) just never stop

actually that last face just a part of comix story - i've decided to try keep telling story (so realistic rendering wasn't the goal). Strong and consistant. And i'll try to make it daily. I hope it will help me with design\storytelling art.

hey nice stuff there i particulary dig the update from the 4th , nice and clean volume rendering eaxctly what i like :)

As for you comic i think i like better the style when you don't detail too much like in the three box when he cross the road that's pretty nice , you may try to losen a bit you brush strokes when it come to the face to equalise the style with the surrounding and other boxes :) ( dunno how it called , maybe not boxes )

Anyway kep the good work you're improving

Really digging those character designs - especially those with that humorous touch! Great colors and a nice sense of mood conveyed with your latest updates. Woah ) I wish I've always had such feedback, because I'm really feeding on it ^__^

@ Starr thanks friend ) Job had a catch, so screw'em!

@ Norris Thanks for stars, but as I'm always - I'm far from the best ))

@ cgaddict Thanks man (heh double feedback). I was thinking about planes and stuff - actually when I'm stuck with anatomy\faces, I'm trying to go back to simple shapes, but most of the times I'm getting tangled even more.

@ DK_sketch thanks mate, but dragon not finished yet ) It will be detailed even more deeply - probably this will be my masterpiece, representing stuff I've learned through this year, since I've started sb.

@ darknight thank you very much. This way it would've more right, but when I'm done with piece, I rarely get back to it... But probably i will fix this one later.

@ kingkostas Hey man, I really appreciate your support (probably I've already said it, but who gives). I've seen what you're doing with values right now - maybe I'll try this one out too. I do want my values be realistic, so I'll keep pushing it.

@ Donna Thank you ) No more fooling around, new comic page today! I'll visit your sb as well later.

So, right now I have nothing, but in 8-10 hours I'll be drawing and doodling and painting, and then there will be an update!

So... 5th page, I'm out of the loop about comic, and have a good feeling about it (still though sounds too cheezy). Anyway here we go + faces. Please don't think I'm slacking around, I'm just lazy and love to take a rest )

edit: sorry for my english. I'd be happy if you'd point out on my grammar.

Ookay. First of all - thank you all guys for replies.

@ marcotronic Thank you - I'm enjoying that tablet alot!
@ sutapa You will, just visit me daily or so )
@ BluezAce I'll post animation next time, ok? Maybe we'll jam something together one day?

very nice use of colors, some of your stuff lacks sharpness, try using more harder brushes!

Seraph Fawkes
June 4th, 2010, 02:51 AM
@ sutapa Yep, it's just a doodle. The frog guy on the other hand will be probably finished )

Parsakoira I'm using alot of sharp brushes, and almost always use post sharpening filters. If there's places where it's not sharpened it's ment to be that way. Anyway, thanks for stopping by)

lil morning refinment ^__^'

@ Donna Thanks and I will soon finish it, probably tomorrow.
@ BluezAce Too bad you won't see it on a big screen, but I hope you'll see it anyway - it worth it.

So, animation in PS (since cs3, how it was before I really don't remember, though I've been using PS since 7th or 8th version) pretty much simple. Call window-animation. Set it from Timeline to Frames if it's not. Now create new layer and make first keyframe. All you need to do now is just draw every next frame on the new lawyer. To make it easy I'm duplicating current frame, setting original layer to low opacity, and just drawing in the duplicate. That way it's easy to maintain proportions in movements and stuff (hope you understand me).

So, now you have all key frame, what to do next?

Disable all layers except first one and go to animation window. Press this one:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_wByjj6VVYgg/TAmBcwhSqRI/AAAAAAAAAEg/L3Ntt-7LOJQ/2.jpg
when new frame created, select it, then disable first layer in it, and enable second one. And so do with every next frame\layer. In the end you supposed to have 1 unique layer per 1 frame.

What now?
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_wByjj6VVYgg/TAmBfBUQ2CI/AAAAAAAAAEk/7jrFsLaFLFI/3.jpg
You can set how long does frame stays on (default 0 seconds), and can tween frame. This way, by tweening (is it a word?) 2 frames, you'll have some additional frames, in which first layer disappears and second one starts to appear.

Anyway, when you'll be done, select file-save for web&devices. Save as gif and it's done. BUT, if you planning to make a real video, select file-export-render video.

So, here's a little animation I've done, doing that lil' tut, and a face practice (btw, all faces I've recently done - refless, and I think I'm doing not bad ))

Well, that'it for now - I'm not at my workplace, so not really in mood to do serious stuff.

Cheers!

Omg - killabear! Cute prince, and sweet frog\fish. I think it really shows your progress. Rendered heads are nice, but man, push youself - do eyebrows, eyes and hair. Anyway you're doing better and better!
Cheers!

Wow thx! Although it won't be trying to make any animation soon, but I'll definitely show it to you someday! :D
