Thank you so much for sharing all of this priceless knowledge Jason! I'm surely going to be referring to my notes to use for my final year of study in Illustration.

Caught the lectures on both days. First night was a crazy information overload but on second view the stuff really sinks in. A little prior reading and a clear head to anybody taking this class in the future would make it all a little less daunting.

For sure, by the end of the lecture, you'll feel like you have this massive whole in your artistic knowledge filled in, ready to be implemented like crazy through tons of studies.

Hearing this stuff straight from Jason is so much more understandable than reading, oh and by the way, there is no single book (or even multiple) that could teach you all of this in such a down-to-earth and smooth flowing way. I'll be re-writing my notes again once the stream is available making sure I have it all down before the stream goes again. If this is ever available as a download, i will be buying it to review the info until it is mastered, if not for the pure sentiment of the whole thing.

Stay legendary and tart Jason, thanks a million!!

Hi Jason,

I was just very disappointed that I could not view it. I have the latest versions of both Firefox and Safari, with the latest Flash player plugin. Unfortunately, I only have access to a Mac, and cannot use Internet Explorer.

Is it possible to view a recording in another format, and is the current format Windows viewable only?

David

Not sure why you could not. The main issues were people in italy chugging..three I think. Outside that went pretty well. Try to log in again and see if you can view the streaming version. lemme know if u still cant get on.

I will ask the streaming company tomorrow when i talk to them, what the issue might be.

Only thing left to "seal the deal" would be if the composition download comes out. Hopefully the 20 hour rendering doesn't freeze eh? :/

Highly recommend to anyone serious about improving their art and appreciating other artists' works as well.

Thanks so much for this Colour Theory dump Jason. Can't wait to try some of these techniques of leading the eye to different emphasis points using all the material you gave us.. but first ... sleeeeeeeeeeeep.

Jason, that was seriously incredible, thanks so much for the lecture and all the answers. It was a crapload of info, and it'll take a while to process, but I've got my notes and I'll definitely be rewatching. It was real cool of you to take out so much of your weekend for this, we all appreciate it a lot. Can't wait for that composition vid and whatever else you teach in the future, and the new CA sounds awesome. You the man ;).

Absolutely fantastic session. My favorite part was watching Jason get lost in coloring a Rembrandt. He just stopped speaking to us for a couple minutes as he enjoyed painting. Was great to see. I believe the quote during it was "switch to a bigger brush, lazy-boy" mumbled under his breath :)

I can't recommend this enough if he does it again. For students, its what you want your teachers to be like. For Pro's it's a great refresher, and a good way to shock yourself out of the instinctive use of color and start thinking about it again.

Again, great job Jason and thank you for a great 7 hours.

It's not a browser problem, I used Firefox and I was able to view it...
Unfortunately I was one of the three "lucky people" from Italy and my problem was the continuous lag.... I also tried with Internet Explorer but the lag remained :(

Thoroughly enjoyed the class yesterday, and the day before. Nothing like frying the brain with fantastic information! I know some I've heard some of it before, but its amazing how quickly that information can be forgotten. Plenty notes taken for revision; now to put it back into practice.
Oh, BTW - the Marshall Vandruff 'Learning Stages' made sooooo much sense! I believe I'm in between 'Concious ineptitude' and Concious Aptitude' (though, closer to former, than latter...)...The Composition lecture/class was most needed; one can become lapse in this area, and a good kick up the bum can never hurt you... :)
All the information taught, I dont believe was taught at my art school, recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more on Colour and Composition.
Thank you Jason for the opportunity, this class couldnt have come round at a better time!!!

This was fantastic, i dont think i'll ever approach a painting the same way again.

I know a bit about art history but now i feel its not enough so i'll be hitting the books big time.

A huge thanks to Jason, i hope i have enough money to take more of his classes in the future.

Im going to start saving money now, as I'll definately be attending if there is another lecture sometime in the future :D all of the reviews have been 100% positive! I wasn't there myself, but I want to say thank you to Jason for taking so much out of his own personal time to help the community and to educate other artists :)

I will run it again next month or the following perhaps. Depends on how much interest there is.

Thanks for all the support. I've added some more good features to the site tech and I think when you all see what is being done you will be more than glad to support the learning and education of yourselves for so cheap..and for such up to date info.

Doing the best I can. Will keep at it.

This was an excellent lesson. I've been chewing it over and describing how much I learned and how I see it affecting ALL my future work. I'm recommending it and passing the links to the CA downloads and DVD links along to just about every artistic person I know.

I think the CA classes are going to be a success. Thanks for all your patience and thorough information!

I'll likely be tackling the assignment this week, too!

I was wondering why can't the streaming version of this course be available to people who missed the live session?
I would be willing to pay to see/hear the lecture even though I wouldn't get to see the chat part, I'm sure there's still a lot of information I could(and others) could get from it.
thanks a lot for these!

I was unable to attend either class this past weekend due to prior engagements, but I would definitely pay the $95 to watch the streaming lecture portion for 30 days (or w/e the time window is)!!

EDIT: Just saw the comments about teaching class again in the not-too-distant future. Looking forward to it! :)

Just wanted to add my voice to the choir, I too would be interested in paying to stream the recorded lesson despite missing the live one, I had other obligations on the weekend else I would have been on it like a remora on a marlin. I definitely advocate either a repeat live lesson or the option to pay for the streamed recording. Thanks Jason!

This class was the single best explanation of light and color theory that I've ever had. It is an extraordinary learning experience, and if you have an opportunity to view this class it will help your work immensely.

Thanks for giving us so much of your time and attention, and sharing your knowledge with us, Jason. We appreciate everything you and all of CA are doing to continue to make this community great.

Thank you ^_^

I feel color theory is the one thing in my art i really struggling with. I have tried many books and local courses without much success. Judging by the response from other people, this maybe the one thing that breaks me through to a new level in my work. I would be grateful for another chance at the lecture if you were to have one.

The videos will be available to watch, as well as access to the streaming forums for those classes which have good notes and such from the other users...if you pick up the vid, and did NOT get to see it live, and have a question or so afterward, I will make a thread for a post for questions that have not yet been answered and will do my best to get through them in an on demand recording about two weeks from now (to give peeps time to ask).

Jason: I left you a PM in case it is a password issue needing privacy but I can not get onto the colour theory on demand at all. Looks like the thread for the film is locked or something showing 0 posts, replies etc. Unless I am mistaken, despite missing the live show, I was supposed to be able to pay and watch the "on demand".

Awesome class! I just watched the replay and it was just strange, that some parts looked missing. Like just in the beginning, Jason was already answering questions about value, with a illustration from Frank Frazetta. Is that right? It looked like the value explanation were missing.

Hello, long time listener, first time caller. I watched the color theory class, and just wanted to give a big thanks to Mr. Manley. I wasn't there for the live show, but on-demand was just as good.

I've been focusing my studies on color lately, so the timing was perfect. Although, I admit I was a bit skeptical about how much I was really going to get out of this. I'd already resigned myself to one class. Things are tight these days, so another hundred bucks is not trivial. But I must say it was good, totally worth it. It's going to take some time to digest it, of course, but before I even finished I was already putting it to work.

It was a nice day, a good day to go sit on the porch. I usually take a book and a beer with me, but this time I decided to leave that stuff behind, and just see what's out there. I followed Mr. Manley's advice, and it was incredible. There was color everywhere. It was partly cloudy and the light kept changing. But that actually made it more exciting because I was watching the colors change. I'd lose them, and find them again. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't that hard either. It's kind of hard to explain. It's going to take a lot more practice is what it boils down to.

Which brings me to the only real downside. I'd like to have this to listen to it again in six months or a year from now. The real value is in applying this stuff over time. I'm sure there's a lot he said that I'm not hearing because I'm not ready to hear it. But I've got to do my part too, so there ya go.

Sorry to blather on. Thanks again. And on a personal note, there is a lot of fluff out there, in my opinion. Guys like Jason, Andrew, and Marko, they're the real deal. But I guess I don't need to tell anybody here that.

Alright, new guy shutting up.

So, if we didn't watch the live class can we watch the streaming video until september?? I'm still confused, I charged the $95 on the 14th, and I haven't received any email yet. But after reading more I'm not sure if I will get access?? Thanks.

Irt took me a week, but I just finished the Sunday session On Demand. Have to say it was frickin awesome. So much info packed into 6 hours or whatever it came out to be. So worth the money.

Technically, On Demand worked fine, Streaming not at all. Could be my dsl. On Demand is hard to stop and start, and especially navigate backwards, but I was able to do it when I had to.

fertseger, I think you can watch the streaming class until September. I missed the live class and had to wait on a password too, and I think it was just cause Jason and the others are insanely overworked. They are extremely apologetic, though, so I'd keep bugging them. Don't be shy.

Sorry to be posting so late to this thread. I wasn't able to attend the last few hours of the live class, and just finished watching the rest of it on demand a couple days ago. Thank you again Jason for all the hard work, and sharing all the knowledge you've accumulated! Hey this is sounding like a really good video to watch. I've got a few questions though before i purchase.

(Be nice if a "FAQ" was provided on the concept shop page. Quite new to this site and its messy to have to brows multiple threads to find specific information on a product.)

If I purchase the $95 streaming on demand video, can I watch it over and over again at my leisure or have I only got until October 1st or whenever it runs out.

Basically can I only watch it once? or until it gets pulled? Be a shame to spend 100 bucks on something so great but with such a limited viewing window.

Thanks,

Love the way this site is heading!

How long till it gets pulled?

zenichi
September 24th, 2009, 10:23 PM
you can purchase it now, and yes, you can view it numerous times before 1st october 2009. having said that, my personal experience is, i need at least a week, spending between 2 to 3 hours a day to go through the class and the notes posted by others to have a more lasting impression. the class is pretty intense (to me anyway) and really require a lot of concentration

Will tis be available in dvd formay later on? I would love to have something like this on a permanant basis so that I can go back and review and enjoy. I need to hear things like this a few times and play with the concepts before they really sink in. Perhaps, when you do the next class, you could offer a reduced charge to those that viewed it the first time or at least a DVD of the class at a reduced price.

All of these classes have been inspirational and great. I know I needed something like this to keep learning and keep the mind working.

Thanks!
David
