Its been a while since I've posted anything on here, But I thought I'd share my latest hopefull:D

A friend asked for a Helghast soldier from Killzone 2 on the ps3,I thought I wouldn't mind one myself, so here I am...slowly making progress.

Still loads of stuff to do, Need to shorten the neck a bit, make the gun,do the knee pads etc,Lips on the boots and various bits and bobs.

But I think its getting there.any way let me know what you think as hopefully it will the first sculpt I try and cast.:vodkamachine:

Anyone got any ideas what I can use for the masks pipes that go to the breathing bits?

Thanks for looking:)

Great work, everything seems to be coming together nicely, as for what you can use for mask pipes, you could try using thin metal armature wire but I am sure you might have already thought of doing that. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Hey, B-Splat. I'm just jumping in briefly before heading back to work (I'll have a more thorough response later on), but I wanted to give you some suggestions so you could start getting back to work on those breathing tubes.

I recommend strings from a bass guitar. They really do have the perfect look for covering a lot of hose/tube needs and you don't have to do too much hunting around to find the right size. One pack will cover your tube needs for a long while for small-scale work.

Cheers!

This is going to be ace!
Maybe thin wire wrapped with more wire, if you can't find anything better.
Looking forward to watching this one pregress.

Thanks Guys for the nice comments.

Still a long long ways to go,I have been a bit lazy with this but I'm gonna get back on it and try and get it finished.

Cheers for the help with the tubing, I like the idea of using bass strings! never thought of that. Only thing is not sure if they'll be thick enough, if not I may have to try mr monster's idea and wrap wire round wire!

Thanks again, I appreciate you looking in:)

Wow, pretty awesome so far.
I especially like how you did the trousers. Pure Win!
I also have another idea for the tubing if the bass strings don't work out.
You could maybe use a spring from a ballpen and put some sculpey inside.

Thanks Andre,:)

another brilliant idea for the tubes,(I'm currently "borrowing" some old ball point pens from work):D

Thanks for the kind words

Do you do an armature blueprint before sculpting? The reason I ask is because you mentioned adjusting the neck. Everything I know about sculpting (witch is little) comes from John Brown sculpture videos. He draws an armature blue print that incorporates correct proportions. I have found it to be a life saver in my current sculpt. It also allows you to plan out removable parts for casting. The soldier is looking good. My only crit at this stage is the pants. They look way to wrinkly. If he wears a size 32 length, those pants are 42. Maybe less wrinkles in the crouch area. Keep us updated - thanks.

Thanks eb

I do use a blueprint for the skeletol structure, I left the neck slightly long so I could cut it back to get the head fitting right, As the head is not attached yet until I decide which angle his head needs to be,Probably the long way round , but it seems to work for me:)

My plan is to get the gun in place first to make sure he is looking correctly.

Thanks for looking:)

After everyones helpful input for the pipes I need to bug you all again and ask for help with his gun:)

I tried using sculpy but where it was so small it ended up breaking and now I am sad because I am staring at some plasti card and it looks like it could take forever using that.

Does anyone have any hints or tips that I could use to make it?

The gun would be about 9.5cm long

As always, any help is greatfully appreciated:):)

Hi Bongslplat,
That gun is gonna be tricky whatever way you slice it. I think you'll have to use a few different bits and sculpey then mold and cast it into one piece. This should prevent you having it break, and already save you a step if you were gonna cast this guy?
You might try browsing cheap toys, sometime you can modify their accessories to get you a step closer.

Hey Bongsplat - I don't know about the strength of sculpy, but the plasticine clay I use hardens nicely when froze. I saw a tutorial on sculpting little fingers (tiny) and it gave me this idea - create the gun bulk out of wire heat the clay to 95 degrees, scratch the wire with knife, add the clay around the wire in small amounts and then shoot it with air duster upside down (computer air duster). The difluoroethane in the air duster will freeze the clay immediately making it hard. Hope this helps :)

Coming along nicely this one. Havn´t played the game though...

As for the gun, why don´t you buy a cheap plastic model kit and slaughter it for suitable parts? A pice of sprue might make a nice barrel for example...

Thanks Guys for the help, I guess I'll be taking a trip into town tomorrow to see what I can rustle up!

I might get some epoxy putty to use,and perhaps rob some small children of their toys....Muha ha ha....LOL

Cheers for looking in:)

If you still need to sculpt the rifle, try getting a toy FAMAS assault rifle of the same size and cutting it up, both rifles look very similar.

GI-Joe action figures would probably have a gun the right size.
