I just want to post my bad experience with this pad: I bought it NIB just over a year ago... BARELY used it since it was for when I play on my husbands computer.... so I buy an IMAC and my nice intuos pad won't work on it of course, so i start to use this grapphire pad.... after a week it stops working.

While I loved my intuos pad, this grapphire is total crap and I wouldn't waste my money on one again. It seems like Wacom invests all their money in making one line superior, and the others are VERY inferior just so they cover the low end of the market too. sigh.

I've had a graphire for a few years now and never had a problem. No, it's not as fancy as a nice Intuos, but it does the trick. At least for me it does. *shrug*

Same here. Never had a problem with mine. When you say it stops working, do you mean completely? Because for a while mine worked only in Photoshop and Painter. I updated the software and it was good as new.

I've owned two graphires and the only issue I can see with them is that the cords on them can go bad if mishandled or from excessive movement, so you have to be careful with using them. ^^ I would not say they're an inferior product to the extent they are intentionally poor quality. They last like any product of their price range. Occasionally you will get defects, that can't be helped with any form of consumer electronics. It's safe to say that happened here.

hhmmmm. alright maybe i got a bum one.... still seeing how my intuos has lasted for ten years, and that is with tons of use and handling, and this one was handled for less than a months worth of time.... still wouldn't buy another of these.
It does still light up, even changes when i touch it with the pen, i reinstalled the software but the computer cannot see it, i think that the cord is the issue, even though i cannot see anything wrong with it.

If it's the cord, you should see the light going off and on when you move it. You'll hear/see it disconnect and reconnect to the computer. Your pen light is still working and responding to the pen so that's a good sign. Check out official Wacom forums and see if the employees there can help you with the drivers. They might just need to be clean installed... http://forum.wacom.eu/

I had two graphires. One of them still in use. The other one I gave to a friend. Both work absolutely fine.

Graphire is discontinued anyways, so no point in thinking about buying one again anyways.

I used one for 8 years, and I got it used. I had no problems with it what so ever. When it stopped working the cord gave out, and I repaired it myself short term. Got a Bamboo Fun to replace it.(Which you may as well call the Graphire 5 or 6). Never had any problems.
