I was just thinking now, if every major city on earth were to be destroyed, and I was able to go out in the wilderness with 5 or so people, what would i bring?
With what you could fit in a duffel bag and a backpack or briefcase, what would you bring? :)

-The basic medical stuff is a must, like anti bacterial stuff, so thats in the bag.
-Definately a few knives, for obvious reasons.
-Rope and string would be neccesary, and wouldn't take up much space.
-A hammer! There are so many things you can do with a hammer.
-A screwdriver. If you think about it, they are very practical, even if you don't use them for screwing...the mechanical one.
-A gun. Durr.
-A sleeping bag, just a small simple one, not a plush comforter.
-You know those foldable water bottles? Yeah, those are useful.
I can't think of anything else, post your guys' ideas here too! This is going to be fun, like a camping trip with the rest of the C.A. gang.

LOL!
how great would that be! Get as many CA.org'ers together and take the basics... just roleplay that the rest of the world is destroyed..
We could get our sketchbooks and art supplies and paint our travels from a post-apocalyptic point of view.

's been a while since I've been in scouts.. I could use a good campout...

one thing I'd bring is Chewing Gum ... gots as many uses as a hammer.

We'd need some-sorta device to restrain ourselves in the event we run into any post-ap women... gotta keep the brotherly spirit from ripping appart.

An axe. A weapon and a tool used for cutting trees to build shelter. You forgot matches. Or flent and steel, but that sucks because when you miss the steal then you cut your knuckles.

I was just thinking this over. A katana. Think of how many things you can do with a katana.
Chewing gum would wear out, wouldn't it? Lots and lots of chewing gum, then ;)

An axe would be a good thing to have around. Useful. I hope this thread gets better and better :).

A camping trip with fellow concept artists would actually be pretty fun. We could teach eachother tricks of the trade. Life survival classes, that would be awesome. They should have that on a college thing, survival class.

You'd need something that could chip rock or flint, then u could make makeshift knives!! Another thing is a gasmask, cause u might come across clouds of sulpherus gases or something... A hammer is good, axes...good, and finaly a laser gun with solar panels to charge up the batteries, cause a gun would run out of bullets:D

I'd have to say nail clippers. I've never gotten good enough at chewing my nails properly.

mos667
January 6th, 2004, 12:39 PM
Fridegg: Well you better practice before the world ends :)

Georgem: You could just use charcoal from a fire, or a stick in the sand. ;)

Shadow: lol! Yeah, anything reusable is a great idea. And its not what you can find, its what you want, so let your guys' imagination go freee.

Flipse: Lots and lots of duct tape :)

How bout a bunch of that fishing wire? That stuffs all purpose.

cant think of anything else right now. i didnt even think of a gun...dont really kow why it would be that useful either

We'd need some-sorta device to restrain ourselves in the event we run into any post-ap women... gotta keep the brotherly spirit from ripping appart
haha, i dunno, i think a lack of deoderant and razors would restrain me pretty well not too mention possible mutations...eeeewwwwwwwwwwww

A couple of flares the next best thing to a flashlite. Some extra gasoline in case you find a working car. And some money/jewelry to trade or barter with. Lastly a heaping ton of water and toliet paper.

The way this is headed, ther is one very important thing that has been left out. Roughly eight trailers just to store everything in :)

How about some gernades. You can throw them inside of a bear's den during hybernation and blow them up! They won't know what hit 'em! Plus, its a meal cooked in 5 seconds.

In no particular order:

GECK
Bozar
Ammo
Psycho/Mentats
Advanced Power Armor MKII

You don't need any more than that!

*You either get it or you don't*

A water purifyer would be a pretty useful thing. I don't know about the grenades though ;).
The toilet paper: use leaves man! Not poison oak though, ouch!
amphex: you don't know what a katana is? its a japanese sword, and it rockors any boxors, in half.
aven: do you want me to take off the limitiations on what you can bring? ;)

This thread is turning out pretty great, I love it!

dfacto
January 6th, 2004, 04:39 PM
A crowbar and a crate....

Worked for Half-life.

mos667
January 6th, 2004, 04:59 PM
Anarchy: grr :) Toilet paper wouldn't work, just do it like the cavemen did. Or didn't, rather.
Actually a crowbar would be really useful. I feel like playin some half life now ;)

A horse, rifle and shells, axe, traps, a couple of tarps, flint, rope, and a good skinning knife. It's all you really need. Actually you don't need the horse, but it would be handy. lol

water filters or purification pills

water bottles or containers

cooking gear (pan)

magnifying glass to light fire

compass

very good shoes

very sturdy jacket and trousers

army t-shirt

bivouac-sack for around the sleeping bag

pocket radio, a hand-operated one that doesn't need batteries and has LW and FM bands

SAS survival guide

sunglasses

salt (your body needs this if it's hot)

large piece of agro-plastic to create shelter with

pencils and sketchpad ;-)

That should about fit in the bag, i would not use a duffel bag but i would use a good modern 90L backpack

January 7th, 2004, 11:23 PM
Wow!! Erik, I think you covered just about anything. All you are missing is a solar powered computer and a wacom tablet. :)

AnarchyAo2

Hey Evi, you own a katana? That is awesome. Why would you need the lockpick kit when you could just take a sledge to the door? Not like anyone is going to miss it ;)
Hey anarchy, my name stands for Monkey on Strike. I guess there are a few reasons for us monkeys to go on strike ;)
Mcotie - What would you take over? :)

skvv
January 9th, 2004, 12:05 AM
yeah, got the katana from my dad (deceased) for christmas when i was 15 so i'm pretty attatched to it.

as for the lockpick kit, i'd rather carry 2 oz. of picks, than 30 lbs of sledge.

mcotie
January 9th, 2004, 12:19 AM
an army of 5. and We would take over a Wal-Mart because they have a bit of everything in there... of course.

mos667
January 9th, 2004, 01:03 AM
I'm still wondering where you can get a katana. Does it really cut and all? :) Would be good for those pesky beggers in the future, you know.
A sledge would be a little burdensome, but a hammer works just as well.

Walmart or home depot :). Just go to a mall and camp out there ;). What was that awful movie with John Travolta and him trying to speak to these human people. They were aliens. It was like the worst movie I have ever seen. Where was I going with this?

Fipse
January 9th, 2004, 02:27 AM
I would join Mcoties army ... I suppose everything will be worked out this way :D.

And the business with the Katana is a nice thing for showoffs who know survival from RPGīs. I have one and I learned to use it during Iai-Do and in in a survival-case itīs dead weight. Better go for the odd Machete (or for the historical Sax). Short stuff that doesnīt hinder you and that you can use as a tool.

Fipse
(occasional trecking and knowing how important weight is)

skvv
January 9th, 2004, 10:45 AM
I trained in ken-do for 3 years so i can properly handle the thing and i wouldn't live anywhere without it.

my dad got it in the blades/knives store in the mall, so it's a 50$ piece of junk, i wouldn't mind using it as a tool, but at least it's 440 stainless with a full tang and the weight center 4 inches down the hilt... balanced enough for quick use, and i'd use the Colt as a tanto, heh.

Aven
January 9th, 2004, 03:04 PM
lol. This is getting great :D All of a sudden it has gone from 'Surviving a barren wasteland' to 'Battle Royale'.

The army idea is good.... Until it comes time to decide on leadership ;)

AnarchyAo2
January 9th, 2004, 03:10 PM
lol yeah, taking over walmart is a great idea. They've got guns, food, water, toys, bathrooms, money, beer, candy, TONYS PIZZAS!!!:D , and hookers--hehe just kidding (Well, they may have hookers, the place is so big it would take years to explor the whole thing. The hookers may be hiding out somewhere.):hmm:

Me and my buddy already have a plan for this. First thing we storm the big-5, raid the gun rack and then baraccade ourselves inside. Nobody gets in except people we know, and they get a free gun and ammo. Then we take over the county!!!

Being in Germany at the moment and 5000 miles away from home this could be a problem if the apocalypse comes now though.
