Can anyone recommend a solid book for the ins and outs of storyboarding. It doesn't have to be pretty, but I'd like to find something with a comprehensive array of examples. Something that touches on storyboarding for video games -- even better. Any suggestions?

I have 'Storyboarding The Simpsons Way' and the 'Batman Animated' artbook, but there's probably a better example out there.

there are sites like
http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/authoring/studio/guidebook/index.html and
http://www.storycenter.org/memvoice/pages/tutorial_3.html and
http://www.polykarbon.com/gallery/storyboards.htm

but if those don't help try googling storyboarding and there are a couple of good tutorials on the subject at youtube but if you are willing to spend then you can check out the series El Coro made about cimematic storyboarding at massiveblack.com. I got The art of the storyboard By John Hart last year and I think its a great book (think you can get it at amazon.com but im not sure).

Hope this was a little helpful.

Having just started storyboarding, I bought 'The Storyboard Design Course' by Giuseppe Cristiano, which turned out to be a fairly comprehensive look at the basics and business of storyboarding. So yeah, that.

5 C's of Cinematography (http://www.amazon.com/Five-Cs-Cinematography-Picture-Techniques/dp/187950541X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247360682&sr=8-1) is very good.

It may be a cinematography book, but man it covers alot of things for visual storytelling. Check out the reviews at the link above and you'll see a review from Sherm Cohen, who is a storyboard artist in animation.

Thanks, everyone for your great suggestions!

Has anyone seen "From Word to Image: Storyboarding and the Filmmaking Process"? It sounds pretty comprehensive, but I was wondering how it stacked up to some of the books that were offered up.

Thanks again!
