hair colour

hi,
say you have a pic of photo and its ok
but would be better if the red hair
was a little darker red
is there any way of doing this in photoshop ?

thanks for any advice
(I could send the pic in question but its not
a hand made art work its a kind of pic fake
that I did using Photoshop.)

um you mean a photograph? a couple ways I think would be:
1. to make an adjustment layer on top of that one for non destructive editing, and get the burn tool out and color over the hair.
2. magic wand the hair on the main layer, create another layer, set that layer to multiply and color over the hair with the color you want probably a medium to light gray or black, then adjust the layer according to how you want it to look, opacity of whatever. This can also be done by magic wand on the same layer and change the curves or levels in the adjustments menu.

another way that's kinda pretty intense since coloring hair is already difficult is to get another layer, set to multiply, get out a brush tool and set the blend mode to color, pick the color you want, and color the hair. the rest of the image stays the same but the hair changes color.
