not quite sure...C&C

Hey, This is my first picture post here im using it for a competition on another site and was hoping for some advice. Its a copy of the 'best of bowie' album cover and im not sure wether to add colour or keep it in just pencil i was originally going to paint it in acrylics but couldn't be bothered and it would take me abouta week to be happy with it. There are some areas i know i have mesed up..The right eye, i flicked up too far with my original sketch which i did in purple fountain pen so i cant get rid of it lol also on the areas i drew in to show me where severe shading would take place but again because of the pen i cant get rid on them but hey-ho i only have a priliminary picture at the moment as i dont have a scanner only a picture phone so the image is VERY blury but any computer literate people can probably sort it out for easier viewing if they wish, anyway thank you all in advance for any advice you may give and i hope u can enjoy it.

i would seriously go out and buy yourself a scanner.

i can see the basic shape but the picture taken with these camera phones means that i cannot tell what this image is truly like.

show it when you have a scanner.

from what i can see it looks okay but i cant give you an honest opinion because i cant tell.

yea i really need to buy a working scanner but for now i use a mates its just having to meet up with her to get it scanned but i will be seeing her on wednes so it shud be up sometime wednesday night

As per previous reply, can only really give a general comment. I think the background blue needs to be made a little darker to "pop out" the foreground head. At the moment it just seems to be competing for attention. The grid like cut up seems to be working well but it might be a little under done - hard to tell.

The most basic crit I have is that you need far more contrast. Look at the reference, there are strong areas of (almost) 100% white and Black. The low contrast is making the image apear to flat. Add some PUNCH to the image.
