This is a really rough sketch of a Girl looking at a bullet. I desperately want to turn it into something refined but I have no clue how to fix it HELP! C&C welcome

Sorry for the delay. I Did another version with some of the suggestions that I received and this is the result. It still needs help. Any comments are appreciated.

i like it,but if she's supposed to be running,it doesn't look so.i think you needn't draw the bullet in the picture, without it you can give it more story maybe.
edit: oh yeah,FEET!

Nice angle. Adds a lot of atmosphere.

As for refining it. If you want to start off as a quick sketch that you will make better later on, use really light pencil strokes (get a harder led if needed). Then you can go in and just add in more definite line and clean up all of your proportion and shape lines.

Various artists add in detail in different ways. some will do a single 'bubble' sketch and then work from top to bottom adding in full detail as they go. Others do multiple passes and slowly keep on adding in detail as it is needed/wanted.

Good luck with it and I hope that you achieve what you want._____________________________________________ _____________

Thanks for all the advice they help a lot but how can I fix her face and feet to make her look mortified and running.

I notice that some artists sketch in light blue. What is that stuff, prisma, pastels? what is it and why use it?

Light Blue Sketching

I'm no too sure what medium artists use when they draw in blue, but there is a reason for it.

When you scan in black and white or photocopy a drawing, it will copy any colour that is darker than a certain value. That particular colour blue is not dark enough to be reproduced by a b/w copy. It is still very easy to see with the human eye though. this means that they can just sketch will blue and leave it. They can them go over with a darker colour adding in their proper line work. When they scan it, no blue lines.

It is also worth noting that a greyscale or colour scan/copy will still pic up the blue lines.

Comic pages have rulers and borders drawin in the same colour. Same reason.

Hope that helps a little.___________________________________________ ______________

Guess they use simple blue grafitte (dunno if it's spelled like that in english) that you use in your mechanical pencil.

But about the sketch, great pic, love the angle and the motion we can feel!!! Yeah I agree with carnifex about if she's running.....but I think you can keep it like that coz looks like she's jumping....imagine like a city down there she's in the top of a tower or building, jumping .... anyway just a crazy idea XD Though to make she looks running, in my opnion one leg should be bent

Thanks for all your suggestions, as you can see I have applied most of them. Please tell me what you think of the modified version.

Ale, I'm thinking of doing a version like you suggested too. I like that mental Image.
