If you get Adobe CS4 (inc Flash) is it still necessary/desirable to have photoshop for digital painting and image adaptation?

CS4 does include Photoshop right?

If this is a question about wich software to use, they are completely different programs for completely different purposes.

Photoshop is a all around raster image editor while Flash is a vector based package intended for interactive online animation.

Sorry, it's got fireworks, I meant to say (as well as flash), but not photoshop.

Ugh... You got the web standard didn't you? It's the cheapest CS version and it's the only one that doesn't have PS. Honestly, unless you need the tools in the web standard (you're planning on doing web design) I would just see if I could do a trade for PS extended. fireworks just doesn't cut it. If you do need the tools I would recommend some PS alternatives such as paint tool sai, (the trial was fun, and it's very cheap) Or GIMP (It's come a long way from the Poor PS knockoff it used to be and looks pretty nice from all the screenshots I've seen) which is free.

Thanks, it looks like that's what I did. I will need the web design stuff, but I also want to digital painting, or at least colouring/fixing/adapting. Being more used to photoshop, fireworks seems a bit like having to drive a tank when you're used to cars.
