Sorry to be a bother folks, but I am feeling most doomed at the moment. Alright here's the deal, I am one who draws (models, paints, etc.) from when I awake, to I fall asleep each and everyday. I don't go a day without doing something artistic; however I feel as though I am not doing enough. I am graduating in march and I am not sure I am up to par what do you folks say?
What do you folks say about my pieces? Also where do you predict I'll end up?
I also have many high expectations as well; members of my family have preformed extraordinary feats in the past and did the impossible. My immediate family tell me things such as, "If am able to gain more funds and be more successful than most citizens, you can be a lucrative and successful artist." Not only that my uncle actually did video editing for sony in japan, and a close family friend actually won award in the kyoto film festival. So I can't mess up. And to them work at small company is "thinking small" and "pauper mentality". I do want to go somewhere big though.
Also folks say things I create look the same but I am not seeing it. I am not drawing the same character or things of that nature, I always try things that are most unheard of and new. So I am most confused as well. I also do cafe drawings and gestures of real things, objects and other characters as well.
Also many folks listen to one teacher who I thinks steers folks down a wrong path, often everyone who gets praised by her puts out a dreadful demo reel, and I did not want to suffer this fate. Their most recent production was scoffed at while they seemed proud of it. She says she has many connections; however her drones wind up at studios the size of coffee shops.
While those who didn't listen to her seem much more successful
Here are some pieces.....

Maybe your family members accomplished extraordinary things because of life lessons they've learned and that they choose the life they lead, not because they had to do something amazing. Have you ever thought about talking to those specific family members 1-1 about life (your life) in general? Have you considered maybe having a beer with them and talking to them about the decisions they've made and what they went through growing up. That should be the wonders of family, you should be able to talk to them. Not to some people who can't relate on an internet board... sorry, I couldn't relate. I would want to live life for myself, not for others.

What I meant to say is that I want to be as great and be grand fellow so to speak. Not because others want me to do things. It's not that I have to this one. And also they aren't ones who are for critiquing pieces you know?...

There's still no link, frankly. Deviant Art does not allow hotlinking. Start a sketch book or use the Critique Center or something.
I know what your relatives are getting at, but I don't know how to explain it to you better than they could. I also understand what XanaChama is saying. You see, some people are driven by demons and they never want their thinking, their actions, or their lives to be confined into a little box made by others.
That is only some people though. If you are one of those people, you don't need or want your relatives telling you what to do anyway. Trust me. I am one of those people. I know. You feel it from your very soul, if there is such a thing. You are in charge of you, period!
If you are not one of those people, then having your relatives tell you to "think outside the box" and expand beyond the narrow world of being told what to do paradoxically cannot work (since if you do what your relatives told you to do you are in a box they made).
Look into yourself and figure out who you really are before you decide whether that demon is really in your soul as they say he is. If it is, then why are you even listening to me? Doesn't that computer screen seem to be turning into a little box? You are driven to draw, not read.

I'm having trouble thinking of great and grand people who do cartoons for a living... what exactly do you mean by great?

What I meant is, those in my family are achievers. I wish to be as good as those in past through my own dreams and aspirations; and not end up being a loser or someone stuck at a nowhere job. I just wanted to do good things while making pieces; and right now I am just in a rather perplexed state.

Ahhh! Me too.
Oh!!! For the ability to predict the future and read people's minds. The art of the future would be within my grasp. Welcome to the struggle.

Is this your art?
To be successful at art, you just need good ideas of how to get business as an artist, and with a family like yours they might be a lot more help than your teacher at that. I have managed to become successful, in different ways, and I don't care much about working as an artist to make art a job, because I tend to not like hobbies as much when they become work. I'm sure you are much different, but hope you are good at drawing what people want in moments after it is discribed to make it easier, and more sucessful for you. I know that is a big plus to doing artwork for companies, and will make you very successful. If you know how to use your creative skill at finding work as an artist, you could do better all by yourself. It is a nice thing to talk to big companies about art projects over the phone, and win contracts from companies with an art department. Some of the things you can do to be noticed could have you talking to famous people about you art and ideas. I know, because I have been there. It's all about how you feel about art, and how you use your creativity and skills. It does take a lot of compition to get there, and that can change you art in ways that can surprise you. So, I could never really guess at what your future is like, but you should never be confused with what your goals are.

Drones? Studios the size of coffee shops?
What if you were to start your own studio from a back room somewhere and build it up to something awesome? Would it be a failure because you started so small?
I'm not sure what you're saying here.....

Not that, it had been that way for awhile and they weren't doing anything. The teacher proclaimed that this studio was the best ever or something of that nature.

Koufuyo, life doesn't come with guarantees. No adventure does.
Do what YOU want to do. Live up to your own expectations and aspirations, and stop worrying what other people think.
You have to deal with the outcome; they don't.

I'm sure a lot of people have made it big after they were told the same thing. I think the art association, or something like that said Walt Disney was not an artist. There are more, but the point is nobody has anything to do with what you can do. I was told I was no good, and months later, the same people wanted me to do some work for them, and I charged them 4 times what I was charging anyone else. I was laughed out of an art center, and they didn't want to look at my art, and a year later they wanted me to travel 80 miles away from home to fill their art center with my art and save the art center. It closed, but things like that can happen to you, you just need to work at it. When you finish in March, no matter how it ends, start working on your future. I don't expect to get lucky and land a job right away. Things like that rarely happen. So you need to plan on being self made. Your art is something you need to sell, and get into the public. Do newpaper comic strips, video animation, or what ever it takes. Don't wait on someone to discover you, because that will not happen. I think your art could go all the way, if you work hard to getting it out there. The more doubt you have about your art the harder you push.

You could try pming those already in the industry to take a look at your portfolio and give you a honest crit from one who is already working.
