Hey guys.!!

Hereby I'm throwing myself in...hehe!

Contest 2009...yeayh

My first idea. Technology vs nature (a bit obvious...but what the heck:)).

a world covered in smoke, dust and darkness since hundreds of years.
when a little girl was found by factory workers. She was sitting at the sewage without any protective clothing or breather. And then she dipped her fingers into the water......

some bw wips. and the recent color wip....any critics and comments would be great!

cheers

Andi

that's pretty. could you tell us a bit about your colourizing process?

Very nice and sketchy picture for the start, although its a kind of off the newborn topic.

For the pic: At first I thought they are soldiers, because they look so big and heavy like some of the many "super heavy space marine" designs.
At the moment I just miss something that tells me, that they are workers.

It's a gorgeous piece, I really dig it. But is it just me or does the girl's left hand only have two fingers?

The description given regarding the topic gave the impression that it was an open brief, it wasn't until coming here that I realized 'new born' had anything to with what we were supposed to generate.

Also if it's in, it's in - Styles come and go. I wouldn't have picked them for factory workers, but that said factory workers in my experience tend to be pretty chunky. Generally speaking it's military types who are more athletic.

harris-ejaz...thanks! as for the colorization...i'm just figuring that out for myself, what works best or...at all.....hehe. But basically it's just a color layer over the black and white piece for the overall color scheme and then refining and getting rid of the linework. But my process is really not that sophisticated yet.

Vaejoun...thanks man! I don't think it's off topic. the topic description reads -> Newborn “Bring Something Into the World” or “To Life” ..... and i think both descriptions are getting along with my piece.

Thanks for the feedback on the workers/soldiers :)....the story is not written in stone yet, it could also be a world where everyone has to dress up like that to be able to survive. Actually i like that idea much more..haha.

Airborne...thanks a lot! i hope the fingers are more distinctive in the update....actually three should be visible.

here some progress....worked more on the girl.

The vibrant, pure blue light among the mottled browns and greens works brilliantly, Delmar. I'm really enjoying watching this evolve. it's working for me.
