Hey everyone. I've been looking around for a mostly realistic model to help me with posing practice, but the only one I've found is the DAZ software. It's not the easiest thing in the world to use, but it's a last resort.

So, my question out to the artists floating around these here forums:

Are there any good digital models or mannequins that are pretty simple to use?

I can even use a basic shapes model, but I'd rather not get a real one. (My workspace has almost no free space now for a model to be nearby.)

maybe this:
http://www.posemaniacs.com/
click on the pictures of the poses and you can turn them around
under "hands for drawing" are different bodyparts like torsos or heads

I've been there before, even have the app for my iTouch, but I'm hoping for a little bit more freedom with the poses.

Maybe it doesn't look like there are many digital models for quick reference, then?

I was going to suggest Antics3d, but they seem to have closed down to new members. :(

I'm checking it out now to see if its legit. Also I don't know how old of the version is compared to what was officially released most recently. I'll post again if its a no-go, but otherwise knock urself out.

yeah it works, but its more a glorified google sketchup. I also don't think it came with any models. The guy posted two links, I only downloaded teh software one - that may be the reason for all the blank folders.

The models were the best bits. I use them to work out movement for my animation.

Looks like I arrived too late.

I use Poser Figure Artist. It's like Poser, but with less features, and less stress on your computer. The controls are a bit hard to learn at FIRST, but soon they become

Here's something I did with assistance from PFA.

But it's not Jason Chan quality, so who cares, right? -_-

In Daz Studio you could get poses quicker if you click on the bone which is the pose tool, and grab parts of the body to move them, and it will move other joints at the same time. So you only need to move each joint for fine tuning. How the other joints move, depends on how the camera is positioned, but it is much quicker. You might just need to get use to the program. There are a lot of preset poses, and if you want to save your own poses, you can build up a lot of poses you will not need to do again, just load old poses. You can even save different poses for just the hand, if you want, or animation poses. Just select Save As then chose Pose Presets. You can leave it as is, or pick out parts of the body you want to save just that pose. It can make it easy to work with if you learn more about you options, and how to use them, just like any program.
