Hi,

Would anyone know a place on the net where I can download a simple graphic design/illustration contract?

And, is email considered a binding agreement? For instance, a simple discussion that goes like this:
----------------------------------------------------------
1. Bob to do this illustration will cost x amount of dollars and I can deliver it by x date, afterwards all rights are yours. (send email )

2. (email response) Dan, the price is fine and so is the date. Look forward to seeing the finished product!
-----------------------------------------------------------
I know this is informal, but is it still legally binding?

Thanks,
Dan

Haha, I'm no a legal expert, but from my experience from watching Judge Judy, I would say it might be. I don't know how legit (I can't think of a good word, legit is the only one i can think of) it will be, or on what levels. So, if i was you, i'd get something in writing. Not emails, because you can always alter those and I don't know how it would stand up in court if the employer didn't pay.

Also, I'm pretty sure I saw a topic like this one about a month ago. And one of the reply's had a link to website that you might need. You might want to try to search for it.

Check out this book for sample work agreements and such (as well as much other info) - not always perfect but often a good place to start:

Graphic Artists Guild Handbook : Pricing & Ethical Guidelines (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0932102115/qid=1074303636/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-8813018-8070368)

I don't know of any downloadable forms, but Tad Crawford's Business and Legal Forms for Illustrators (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1581150083) comes with a cd so you can edit and customize them.
