ORCS (too late !!!)

I've done this piece for the "ORCS" thread but it seems I'm too late and the thread had already been removed...No time before to do something until tonight...

I really like the colours and subtle control of light and dark. Theres a good feeling of movement in it.

I enjoy this character- the armour the skin tones and the overall goar of him really works.

that's quite a nightmarish mouth also.

That's an awesome image, totally captures the frenzy and the feeling an orc should give off. Fantastic.

My only crit: maybe the blood on the sword should be a tad less red, or have a little variation in hue to it.. the orc is so awesome that the cartoonish effect of the blood takes away from it. just my two cents, great job!

It's my first piece of 2004 :)
Hope it will be a good year !
I've spent maybe 4/5 hours on it and I've posted it just after...it's not in my habit, I always keep it some days to fix all the mystakes...So this one is more "freestyle" :)
I'll certainly try to use it for a cover or an illustration or something...maybe with a real orcs army behind the character...

Cotron : I agree : this flashy red blood isn't really realistic and not the best choice. it would be better with a darker ox-blood red...I just played with the same red than the symbol on the left top (just graphic gimmick)

Don't know if you look at the thunderdome 7. If I would have the time, I've certainly had challenging you for the battle :D

With a quick and small sculpture (3 cm)...I'll certainly push this idea further maybe with really finished concept sculptures if I had time. Arghhh real strange mutants...:D

In fact it's more like a rough for an idea I'll try to devellop soon...Using some sculptures parts in some of my artworks...A lot of things to learn again. My latest sculptures are becoming dated
The idea came by looking at the wonderful sculptures of a new artist working for my current videogame company. He's concept artist but was a professional modeler for some years...Very exciting

I really like it, nice and painterly plus cool angle. His gear and clothes get a little funny though, it feels like I can tell where you just threw in random strokes... other than that: bitchin'.
