While I'm not exactly a professional artist, I practice a fair bit when and where my schedule allows it and once in a while it helps in my profession. That said i love creating very detailed digital paintings in Photoshop CS4. I've finally decided to make the transition to a tablet, and my budget allows for either of the models mentioned in the title. :steph: Older tablet models are a little harder to come by in my country so let's keep them out of the discussion.

My question is, taking into consideration the argument of real estate versus quality of experience, would the Bamboo fun medium(active area: 21.6cm x 13.5cm/8.5" x 5.3") or Intuos4 small(active area: 15.7cm x 9.8cm/6.2" x 3.9") be the best buy? I may invest in a bigger tablet a year or so from now, but I'd still like to make a worthwhile investment with my current selection.

Any advice or shared experience would be great...

Thanks in advance!

Ended up going with the intuos4. I'll just have to get used to the small active area :lounge:

What screen resolution do you work with?
because a6 is only fine at anything up to 1024*768, otherwise it could drive you nuts
I'd go for intuos3 a5 (new or even used, it still would be better)
or invest into larger one later, when you just get the feeling of working with tablet.

I feel like bumping this instead of creating a new topic:

I have been drawing, and only the last week painting with a old Volito 2 tablet (really, really small tablet) and have gotten used to the fact that I have to draw small stuff, wich I also do on traditional medium. Anyways, I am going to invest in a new tablet around august / september, and what's the better investment, Bamboo fun medium or a a6 intous4?

As I said, I am used with the small strokes etc, but a bigger tablet wouldn't be a drag either.

Working with 1920x1080 right now, if it matters.
