Cool, the AK is awesome - much better then the one with the light flares and stuff ;)

Like the wood details and the specular on the barrel tip. Looks worn in a realistic way. If I have to complain about anything it would be because of the back part, the one closest to the shot.

The indentations on top of the back part looks kind of weird, shallow and have a bit of artifacts on them in the normal-map (?). Maybe you should consider skipping them all together? I didn't see them in any of the ref. pics i could find on google when searching for "ak 47" anyway, but maybe you have been looking at a different model?

Also, about the cookie monster. I liked the first one you posted more, because the body was not finished, just roughed out. It gave me the opportunity to fill in the blanks, form looking at the face I could fill in what the skin would look like and so on. It looks more like the concept art I'm used to seeing on game sites and in art books and stuff.
