Hmm, I know it's still very early as far as progress goes, but the clouds are not... wispy enough. they look like marshmallows, and they are too similar. If you look at any sky photographs (one with clouds!) you'll see how clouds vary. Try to make their ends trail and such stuff...
About the mountains, I can't really comment much at this stage. Just be sure not to give the mountains lighter and bluish hues as they go farther away...

Anyway, looking forward to see updates ;)

A good start to the image. I guess I'd be interested to know what you are trying to achieve with this image - is it an exercise in mountains, painting, style or other?

If it is an exercise in trying to paint some mountains and figure out technique, I think you are heading in the right direction. It might be worthwhile to have a look at some photographs of mountains as looking at a digital painting is somewhat limiting.

If it is an exercise in painting, think about what is going to make the image interesting and how the composition is going to work. With the digital reference that you have, the thing that struck me first was the mountain - why? Because it was orange and contrasted the rest of the image. That has probably been an artistic decision to help create interest and focus in the image.
