Does anybody use it?

I'm inquiring as I've been learning to digitally colour comics and want to move on to doing my own balloons and lettering, cut the cost of getting my stuff finished... but there's no way I can afford full PS at the moment. I can probably use it at work/college but there's only so much time.

Basically all I'm doing is cutting line art out, relayering it and colouring underneath. I've never used PS Elements and was wondering if anyone knows what functions are still available on it, or if it's completely innapropriate for what I need?

Thanks

For what you describe here there is no reason why you cannot get the intended results with Photo Shop Elements.

I do not know if things have changed since an older version that I am familiar with yet one limitation is having to work with color swatches instead of a wheel, triangle, or rectangular shape color picker like; Photoshop CS, Painter, The GIMP, PSP, Art Rage, or U-Lead Photo Impact. You have the ability to work with layers and have the option of copying and then pasting an image into the program on a layer to get the intended result you want. Simply open a file of line art, choose select all from wherever in the menu of the program you have is then select copy from the edit menu then add a new layer, select that layer, and then paste the exact same image into that layer.

Lettering with this program is possible along with special effects and shading possiblities.

You may even extend the special effects by adding certain plug-in filters to help you with projects. I find the KPT Collection works well with Elements. You might pick up some useful plug in applicatons by searching on line, or even try Beta News Forum. At Beta News a potential useful open source or freeware plug in application that is compatible with the version of Elements that you are presently using is possible.
