I'm going through tutorials that I'm finding online, and I'm having a little bit of trouble. I'm using:

http://www.teamgt.com/francis/art/aliensteps/how02.htm
and
http://www.teamgt.com/francis/art/jokersteps/joker.htm

Those are the two tutorials I'm following. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how the guy is blending his colors. On the first link, look at the transition from step 4 to step 5. The color blending on the guy's forehead looks really cool, but I can't figure out how he's doing it. I'm assuming this guy is using Photoshop, because the second link says he's using Photoshop 7. Anyone wanna give out a few brush settings or tell me how this is being achieved?

in photoshop7,
holding ALT will turn your brush tool into the eyedrop tool.
on your NUM pad (with NUM lock ON) the numbers are hotkeys for opacity.
he is using a pressure sensitive digital tablet.

here are two colors to blend:
red ---------- blue

hit 5 on your NUMpad for 50% take a blue and stroke inbetween the colors:
red --purple-- blue

hold alt and select the purple you have created.
hit 2 on your NUMpad for 20% and makes two strokes that will overlap the edges of the red-purlpe and purple-blue.

that is a simplified way that i shade, looks like he used the same concept, it becomes obvious once you do it more often.
hope this helps.
