So its basically summer, and my friends think i am paler than a "white goat". And it is scaring them.

I want to get a nice tan or look healthy.. anything but pale.. but i have no time to just sit in the sun, I would use products that would give me a tan.. but when ever i use any.. my friends say i look fake and golden.

Also years ago i swam alot in the summer, and i got a golden dark brown tan, and i dont want that. I'm trying to aim for a peachy tan.. not a Dark brown. Or just a nice peachy skin color that looks or appear healthy.

Does anybody have any tips.. or special products :P?

thankssss

For god's sake, stay out of the sun, or if you must be outside, slather yourself with the highest SPF you can find. Your friends are idiots, and in twenty years you can laugh at them when you look great and they look like old luggage.

Embrace your paleness! Take a tip from these folks (http://www.gothsinhotweather.com/)!;)

Do your friends also insist on 'popin' your collar?

Really, being healthy is much better than 'looking' healthy. Also big lols at that blog, it reminded me of Gary Oldman as Zorg.

He's not really being a dick, considering that he has a very valid point. Being tan does not equal being healthy, it's a cosmetic preference. I've heard girls say that being tan makes them look thinner. While that may or may not be true, it doesn't actually make them any healthier than wearing a corset does. What you seem to be wanting is to change your skintone, not get a tan. Worse, you're doing it because your friends say you're too pale? Come on. Tell them to enjoy their crows feet and melanoma and slather on that SPF 70. Better yet, get friends that aren't so concerned about how you look standing next to them on a beach.

Some people have naturally darker or "peachier" skin. Some people are as pale as a Yeti's asshole. You can get closer to that golden brown you had as a swimmer if you feel like tanning, but neither sunlight or lotions are going to change your basic skin color. A person with olive skin will not get peachier by roasting their ass off.

It's pretty widely known that excess sun exposure is damaging to your skin and accelerates aging. While a little sun isn't bad, going out and baking is something you'll regret later on in life. I've seen 23 year old women in college who look much older because they've been tanning since high school. If that's not enough, the risk of skin cancer increases rapidly with more sun exposure. It's just not worth it.

Throw yourself into the sun.

Or just chill in the backyard in a nice patch of that sweet Vitamin D.

Both work equally well.

Lol i really enjoy having my arabic skintone :p But really, there are not many ways to change your skintone, either sun, or some shitty spray that will give you a weird skintone, or you can make up all your body :p takes time and it's useless if you'll go in the water ! Lol your friends are silly to say that ( are they the same friends that were trying to rape you on your youtube vids ?, and btw, nice cwalk tut ! )

Bleh, I don't like tanned skin (on women anyway) it looks absolutely horrible, paleness is awesome :)

Unfortunately I have naturally tan skin, I don't like looking a little orange all the time :(

I'd like to see a picture.

Don't sit out in the sun or a tanning bed. You'll regret it when you get burned and you can't lie down or take a shower because it's so painful. And your skin will start peeling and getting dry and ugly. Just don't. Whenever you tan, there's always a risk of getting burned.

I am black so I don't have to worry about tanning but I live in AZ and I've seen the horrible things the sun can do to your skin. Young people my age have even gotten cancer.

Just learn to love your pale skin.

Get out and do some plein aire painting. Some vitamin D will do your body good (just don't stay out there too long).

If nature meant you to be pale, stay pale. It's like nature is giving you a hint.

Pale and interesting is good.

Guys, your just getting him wrong.
He's not doing it because his friends are being horrible about it, he's just exaggerating what their saying and giving it as an example. We all do that, I don't know how old you are but maybe remember when you were teenagers and you would joke around with your friends, it's not meant to be hurtful it's just being "friendly" and having a bit of a laugh the way we know it

I really don't think ross wants to go and change his skin colours completey he's just asking for some advice to get a "healthier" look to his skin. Not that being pale is not healthy or anything but you guys understand what I mean.

And Ross bro, don't go using fake tan products. They look terrible, my friends wear em and stuff and it's just...... ugggh.
An idea would be to take your sketchbook outside, once/twice a week and just draw outside. Don't spend too long in the sun, your not really aiming for a tan but just some exposure to the sun since thats good for yours body.

This way you buy one and get one for free. Your improving your drawing skills because your drawing from life AND your giving your body the exposure that it needs.

Hope that helps

Peace

Nothing scary or unhealthy looking about your skin.
And like others have said, some people like pale or fair skin a lot, its all about taste really.
Easier to change friends than one's skin! ;p

I'd say just play in the sun for a while. You could get a decent olive tan right off the bat. Just makes sure to use sunscreen 45 spf at least, because you might get a burn and it will hurt terribly.

If you use SPFs you will still tan, but just wont burn, so the si=kin wont suffer. A healthy doese of sun is good for you, and staying out of it is not so good either, cause of the vit D. Just do it with reason and don't bake yourself.

Most of the orange examples in this thread are not natural tan examples, but rather a mix of the sun bed and fake tan creams .....
