I'd say it needs more of a focus. Everything is painted sort of fuzzy so maybe if you paint that tree really sharp, it would create focus and contrast. Your brightest value is the furthest back as well as your highest contrast. Your most saturated color is probably in the sky. I keep wanting to focus on that background but then there's that tree jabbing into it and telling me to look at it. You replied to my post so I figured I'd return the favor and try to help you out. The main thing wrong here is that you're not thinking of color relationships. I would sgest that you study the old california impressionists. Study the art of placing the right warms next to the right cools. The image looks flat because of the lack of proper color application. Your composition isn't bad just study color theory.
