Is it legal to use a cracked copy of Photoshop 7 and earlier?
What constitutes as "abandonware"?
These perfectly usefull app versions are no longer supported and does not allow for an upgrade option.

No it is not legal sorry. As long as the company holds the copyright on it it is their's even if they no longer support it.
I beleave abandonware is only applicabel if all the copyrights laps and it becomes public domain due to the collaps of the company and no one else wants it. Don't count on that!
If anyone with more business savvy than me reads this please correct my mistakes.

Was worth a try.
From a business thinking point of view, If I where Adobe I would allow it.
That would make users familiar with their technology and application instead of opting for other freeware apps like Artweaver.
I actually came to the conclusion yesterday that artweaver has full functionality and that you wouldn't need anything more powerful to reach high quality digital art. Was worried about silly things like dodge and burn, turns out the photo brushes in artweaver and painter includes these. Artweaver can even import photoshop brushes.
Dunno why the apple keeps swinging about making me want to buy something that I haven’t grown into actually needing yet.
That's my cheapo outlook lately, that if I can't produce work that justifies the need then I can't buy it yet. Good way to align the energy of learning and progress.
I read up on abandonware and got a article that makes it really silly how money hungry some software manufacturers are.
A wellfare organisation where collecting old computers for kids who can't afford thechnology. The idea was to have them get some form of exposure, these systems was to slow to run the latest software so they were loaded with discontinued versions of windows, software etc.
Bill gates got ticked off with the idea because they wanted them to buy the latest software versions of the software, eventually microsoft donated a whole crap load of XP bundle's. But nothing is mentioned in there about what equipent they had that could run the sofware.
There's a petittion that have circulated and was shot down I think where they wanted to pass something that would allow applications no longer supported + more than three versions behind + older than 7 years to be used freely.
But eh, Artweaver..
